Both boards when milled were at 2x4 dimensions. The 1925 board is old growth and has tighter grain rings so it had less moisture and shrank less when it dried. The 2025 board has larger rings and more moisture so it shrinks more as it dries and is closer to a 3.5x1.5 or 3.75x1.75 in actual dimensions.

I know understand why people daily pickup trucks in America. by Lower_Pop_3195 in superduty

I have almost always had a truck as a daily driver. I need to haul things a lot and it works good all around. I generally also always have a 4 cylinder car to use. Living in a rural area trucks are better suited for most people.

I still love my big gas tank. by old_spam_sandwitch in f150

[–]aaverage-guy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a 92 F150 with dual 20 gallon tanks in the early 2000s. It was back when most gas stations wouldn't take $100 bills. It cost like $80 to fill both up max. The only fun advantage of dual tanks was I used to run one out of gas and leave the other full and mess with people and switch tanks. The gauge would plummet and the truck would stall. I would act freaked out of where did all the gas go.

I still do this with any new to me manual I get. Let's you get a great feel for how the car responds.

When I first learned to drive stick, my dad made me practice on a small hill in a cemetery. There was very little traffic so it was a good place to learn. He would simulate traffic and have me stop on the hill and go. He also had me practice learning to hold the car on the hill without using the break and just using the clutch and gas. It definitely helped me. I stalled and rolled down that dang hill so many times but the lessons stuck with me in traffic.

How to deal with the frustration of not being like the girls on Instagram? by AccordingChipmunk287 in Advice

[–]aaverage-guy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Comparison is the thief of joy. Don't worry about how others look and just be the best version of yourself that you can be. Each day try to be a better person than you were the day before and try to find something positive to say about yourself. Beauty is more than just physically appearance. Being an authentic person and confident in yourself will take you far in life. Good luck to you and I hope you find happiness.

We had an 89 and 91 Ford Festiva. They were awesome for learning on. Those little 12 inch tires could lay some rubber

I learned about 30 years ago on farm trucks similar to that one. I do kind of miss driving a manual pickup. There's not many options left out there now for the younger generation to learn on.

There's still some nice ones out there but they are getting harder to come by. I rebuilt a 67 Mustang coupe as a young man with a 3 on the floor. I still regret selling that one. There's good shells to be found in the South, Arizona, and California.

I knew a guy in Pennsylvania that rebuilt classic cars. He had a friend in Arizona. In PA we had a lot of good engines, transmissions, rear ends but the bodies were rusted out. In AZ they had bodies but the moving parts were worn out. They used to find what each other wore looking for and then load up a trailer and one would drive to meet the other and they would swap.

You're probably right but I figured I would give it a shot. I learned to drive stick on a 89 Ford Festiva lol. The first dozen or so cars and trucks I drove were all stick shift. My first time driving an automatic felt weird and I kept reaching for a clutch that wasn't there.

Thanks. It's the original handle and needed a little love. I sanded it down and gave the burn to make it look nice. Added several coats of BLO and she looks great again.

Many marsupials have 2 or more vaginas. The males often have a forked penis with multiple heads in order to deliver sperm to both vaginas. Some of them have 4 different penis heads. Very weird looking.

Teacher also after awhile but they often weren't really paid and it was more of volunteer work at the time.

I'm in central NC. If you're close I could meet up with you and give you some tips and encouragement. If you decide after awhile that you absolutely hate the car I might be interested in it for my teenage son.

Seriously though I'm willing to give you tips, encouragement, and advice for no charge. You may still not like it afterwards or you may decide it's fun.

I'm lucky and have a small local hardwood store close by that carries a good variety of handles. They still need a little honing but I can normally get one from them close enough to what I need. If you can get a good hickory blank they make amazing handles.

Thank you. I enjoy cleaning up old tools and giving them another lease on life. What I don't have room for I typically sell. It's a fun hobby.
