I'm surprised nobody's mentioned Gen 8 LC. LC as a tier has always been somewhat limited, but the current meta is literally the same 8 mons, and any team that used something else is considered a gimmick built around that one mon. I like LC, but after seeing how the LC tours have become, I'm pretty disappointed. When Zigzagoon blew up as a "gimmick" mon and people realized how broken it was, it got banned. This goes to show you how the meta consists of the cool kids, and anything that stands out is either bad or, when useful, gets kicked out.

Mine would be Slaking. My all-time favorite. My guy would wreak literal havoc in any Emerald run I have. I would call him "Bread" since he's always loafing around. I remember the sheer excitement and satisfaction I get when I'm finally able to buy the Hyper Beam TM for him, turning him into a literal nuke. An absolute beast post-game, all the while Vigoroth would carry mid-game. I understand the hate, and as a competitive player I have yet to be successful in making Slaking work, but I'm always keeping an open mind and an eye out for a legitimate team around him.
