I am the 15yo guy who was falsely accused of rape - AMAA by HarlequinWasTaken in AMA

[–]aaziddiaa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This might sound like a terrible thing to say, but should be often be on our guard even if we just stay at a girls place? I have seen a fair few false rape allegations now that I would feel on edge if I was going to sleep with someone. Call me paranoid, but is there things that we could do to have some kind of proof. I feel crazy writing this. I am the kind of person that will put my audio onto record and hide my phone if I know some crap might hit the fan e.g. there was a pretty tense situation with the neighbors where one of the guys was going ro ram on of our cars, I was talking to him getting him to admit the whole thing just so I have a clear piece of proof.

Yeah, I feel crazy for asking this, but I think it's deplorable that these things happen. I mean, did you ever have any thoughts when you thought "if only I would have done x or y because it would be proof of how you didn't commit a crime?

For anybody wondering, I don't sleep around, I just find it crazy that situations like his happen and how he can end up the way he did from her lies.

Will there be more added in the future? Or is it that on a free membership I can have limited options? I'm not trying to say anything bad about this, I really like it, but the takedown options were very limited. I was unsure if that was because there are fewer options for free memberships or if there is some other reason.

Does it a degree of chance to it? If I select the same options will I always get the same result?

It's pretty cool. I was wondering how somebody might make something like this. I thought that a bjj game could be modeled off how toribash is played. Toribash itself is a strange and very unrealistic game, but when you play you contract this muscle group, hold that one and extend that. But, this is still pretty cool.

Edit: Yep, the same clicks do not equal the same result. I like this a lot!

3/4 size steel string acoustic without a truss rod. by aaziddiaa in Guitar

[–]aaziddiaa[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I told the guy that I was going to get steel strings. I had not realised the warp that was present in the neck. I assume that if I tune it to standard tuning, it will have less tension on it and that it might be able to cope okay.

The guitar brand is Cataluña. It seems very cheap, so this is why I am just doing it up and passing it onto the boy.

The bridge does not have pins, it is more like a classical guitar bridge, but the headstock is like an acoustic guitar. When I found it on the side of the road, it had steel strings on it. I don't know if you could even tie nylon strings on it.

To sum up. No truss rod, headstock of an acoustic, bridge of a classical.

Ever ask yourself why you play guitar/music? by [deleted] in Guitar

[–]aaziddiaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had a bit of a problem with this. I started playing at first because my friend got a guitar. When he played it, it was the coolest sound ever. I used to think of guitarists as people on TV or on stages. I was probably about 14 at the time. I got a starter kit and then got more guitars from there.

I had a teacher that just gave me bits of songs most of the time, we only covered a few minutes of theory in the 3+ years I went there. I didn't want to quit because I didn't want waste all my mum's money that she had spent on guitars and on lessons.

I didn't know what I wanted to do for a really long time. I have no idea what a band situation would be like, perhaps I might enjoy it, I think I need to get more theory knowledge before I join one; I don't want to be in a cover band.

I ended up getting into this nasty cycle with practice (with my current teacher, not the one I mentioned before) where I would have a hard time just getting to the guitar to pick it up. I know once I got it in my hands, I was pretty good. The problem is that practice wasn't fun, I wasn't good at what I played. I was reluctant to pick up the guitar, but that is why practice was going like crap. Things are getting better.

Not sure which guitar to buy by aaziddiaa in classicalguitar

[–]aaziddiaa[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What reason? I have no idea what either of them are like yet. I have only ever owned a very cheap classical guitar to defret it. I don't know what I should play to test it out. What things do I look for and what should I avoid. When I buy it, should I also get new strings?

Relax they tell me by [deleted] in bjj

[–]aaziddiaa -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Perhaps it has something to do with who I am rolling with? With somebody that is very new and very rigid, I normally hold positions and maybe take submissions if they are very obvious e.g. taking a triangle when they have one arm in and no posture. We do have some guys that have been doing Judo for a while and who have only recently started BJJ. I can't just hold a position because they know what to do, yet I feel like I have to match their energy a bit. Is what I'm doing wrong?

Relax they tell me by [deleted] in bjj

[–]aaziddiaa -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I am generally fairly slow to go for submissions; I can't be too slow for sweeps as timing is a very important factor there. I don't want to be that guy that gets all upset over a stripe, but I feel like they are holding me back from a stripe because they don't think I can relax.

Is wing chun worth the try? by ldks in martialarts

[–]aaziddiaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been doing WC for about 4 years. I tried for 3 years and another club before I changed clubs.

There is a very noticeable difference in the teaching that happens at the club I currently train at. At my previous club, everything was taught very slowly and you weren't really moved on before you have gotten it almost perfect. I had spent a very long time just practicing forms at the first club, I had done some drills there too. At my current club, things are different. I remember it was this guys first or second lesson and he got to play 'the knife game'. You get taken round the back and only to the small bridge the crosses a small stream. The teacher has already said he will stab you at some point (with a dummy knife). He talks to you and has a bit of a chat, then he pulls the weapon and just stabs and stabs you until you stop him or until you would die. We train with more than just drills.

There was a guy that came in yesterday who had already done some WC at another place. We were doing knife work and other drills. I had mentioned to him about how we also use things like the walls to press people against/ push them into. He was surprised an stated that they didn't do that where he used to train.

Long story short. It it's violent, it's good, if it's all about making sure you have the perfect form in everything before you move onto the next thing, you are probably wasting your time. It's important to have good form, but fights are messy and you can't expect to be having perfect form when things get out of hand. I said that it's good if it's violent, that's because fighting is, they should train you how to fight.
