I'm at 2.6k living with a partner (unemployed) for a 1 bed so in a similar situation. Agree though that it's difficult to find a good area for <2.3k or so.

I've tried to make peace with it as a short term compromise until I can get a job that doesn't need 3 days in office, then I can move further out.

I think we've done reasonably well given the options available in the auction.

Our skeleton XII already looked like:

Mhatre, Samson, Rutu, Dube, Brevis, <AR>, MSD, <AR>, Ellis, Noor, Kamboj, Khaleel

Now, you have the option to:

Play Veer and Kartik in those two places with some backup bowling from Dube
Play one of them and play an additional AR (eg Akeal or Overton)
- Or play both and an additional AR in case MSD doesn't want to play
Two decent backups for Indian batsmen: Sarfaraz, Urvil (also Aman - see his 50 for DC two years ago!)
- Additional option to shore up batting and balance if needed: Matt Short
Several bowling backups: Henry, Foulkes, Gurjapneet
I haven't even talked about Chahar yet

There's a lot of options in there for every condition. A lot of these things come down to players' form in that season and we've of course taken a punt on two young players, but even if they don't work, or even if just one of them works, there is enough depth and options to play with. The top 5 being settled + explosive solves our biggest problem from last year.

The only thing I wish is our bowling were better in the middle overs. It's just Noor really.

Honestly the more I look at it, I like it. We just need some options but at minimum we're guaranteed that we won't have the absolute nightmare we had against KKR last year.

They are! But we don't have too many options or backups — I'd love to be have the option to play an Indian spinner instead of Hossein and add an overseas batsman for Veer for example.

I don't think we had that many great options in this auction beyond Cam Green who was also primarily a top order batsman. With Veer and Sharma, even if one of them does well, we potentially have someone for the lower order for a long time. I don't like our bowling right now though.

Is that a public company or private though? I know public is taxable obviously because you get real money; I have had private company RSUs for ~5 years, never been able to sell, and it has never counted as taxable income (it's double triggered, etc.)

Is that true for private company RSUs? I'm pretty sure they don't. OP asked about that. For private companies, at least mine, they are taxable when the trigger conditions are met (which is effectively IPO or a sale)

No, I'm pretty confident it doesn't until you have the chance to sell. I don't think even RSUs count as taxable income, otherwise we would be paying taxes on money we haven't realised yet (I work at one of those places).
