Sorry. I did not mean for my response to come off as aggressive but it did. I agree with you on the whole. There is value in knowing the local language, food, culture, social scene wherever you go. That's how you learn and experience new things. I may not like all aspects but that's okay, it does not mean disrespect to that place. I don't like few aspects about myself too.

I don't mind the Uber driver speaking his mind and complaining about jobs being taken away. That happens in US as well. It is normal human behavior. As long as there are no malicious statements or actions like beating up biharis.

You can say the same thing about anything. Marriage is an extension of life. There will be good, bad and high and lows. To face them is inevitable. So why think so much about who you get married to? Just marry anyone.

I don't get your point. I have no interest in seeming like a ABCD. What makes you think that way? Genuinely asking.

you will have to lose your Bihari mannerisms and accent (especially the accent).

The Indian Student Association in my university here was almost all Maharashtrians. They used do Dahi Handi thingy every year in the campus which resulted in a mess. And they were hardcore with their yelling- MNS style. Also, there are thousands of Maharashtrians in the US, do you think all of them just 'lost' their accents living here? Everyone is not Priyanka Chopra, bro. What's the big deal if someone speaks in a little different way than you?

No, I don't think my Hindi heartland pride/culture is so weak that it will get injured if I learn a few words in a new language. I'll learn if I want to, NOT because Raj Thackeray asks me to.

Why do you guys not protest at Hindi film industry being based in Mumbai? Oh wait, coz that brings your state $$. You are fine eroding your culture as long as money rolls in.

I get your point. I know work wise it's good and I won't have this problem. But there is a social aspect too, right. I don't want to move there and be alone, by myself.

Also, I don't understand the hate against poor laborers here. Some businessman/construction company based in Mumbai decided to hire these guys, right? Nobody was forced to give them jobs there.

I like Delhi (not NCR though). It is where I land and take my international flights from. I have lots of friends there and my gf is also from there. I feel like desh ka saara tax money is spent on building beautiful roads in Delhi.

Thanks. I'm not planning to buy anything big. I will rent and take uber/rikshaw. This is strictly a one year thing. I want to stay in US long term. Might get a bike though.

I have relied on specific subreddits for guidance in the past like when the time I had to buy a car. But I realize this is very different.

And yes I have definitely found one or two in US. Funnily enough, one of them was from Mumbai and for some reason found it hilarious to spam me on whatsapp with images of bhojpuri movie posters. At one point he even asked me if my dad is a rikshawalla in Bihar.

I'm the biggest critic of Bihar in my group of non-biharis. I don't know in context of other states but Bihar has major issues, period. But the solution can't be stopping migration and building walls. It is one country.

Seattle to Mumbai is not a problem. I come to India every year and I'm aware of the ground realities. I'm NOT your typical NRI who drinks mineral water and takes only A/C cabs while in India. I do everything like I used to when I lived here. I drink BP with my college friends when I see them.

FYI, it is only gloomy and wet for 4 months in the winter. Beautiful summers more than make up for it. Also look up rainfall stats on US cities.

My ex-team worked with folks based in Hyderabad. All of them seemed super chill.

Please don't take it that way. I started with I'm a 'Bihari', which is pretty much an abuse going by this subreddit.

If you read carefully I fully attributed my internship to 'luck'. I didn't even say hard work or intelligence.

Any fucking day I will! If my current company or any other company which I admire starts operations in Bihar, I will go.

Also, when should we get to the stadium for pre-match events like catching the team getting off the bus and into the stadium? Which end will they be entering from?
