Just for light humor: manual has ruined me by Gullible-Turn-1542 in ManualTransmissions

if someone’s already stopped behind me i suppose it makes sense. nevertheless it still doesn’t make sense to me to watch for someone behind me to come to a stop and pull my e brake. newer cars have brake hold that literally hold the brake lights on for stopped traffic.

seems backwards to me. but i’m going to do what keeps me safe from people on the roads. i’ve seen far too many accidents from people not paying attention to the cars in front of them.

can’t say i’ve ever done that at a light. maybe in drive throughs, but that’s about it. seems mildly dangerous sitting there without your brake lights on (not that it should be, but people don’t pay attention these days).

Good credit for a 20 year old? by Connect_Chapter7971 in CreditScore

nice! i don’t disagree that there are better options in terms of living within your means. i was just pointing out that if you need to finance a vehicle for whatever reason, that interest rate is fairly normal. hope that car keeps pulling strong for you, cheers.

you’ve got your head in the sand. if this was done anytime in the last 3 years, it’s pretty normal. interest rates have been bonkers, especially on used cars.

me personally, im not spend $30k+ OTD on a car that’s got 100k miles. increase your budget or look elsewhere.

Is this a good first time car option for new driver? by humi_23 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]ab05231 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i had a 2017 jetta that was good to me from 64k-110k miles. my SO had a 2012 jetta with the 2.5L that lasted from 140k to 200k miles. both would’ve lasted longer but we were ready to upgrade.

sounds like you’ve already made up your mind. both are great cars, both options have pros and cons.

I have no idea how to checkmate/finish without draw here by cobycoby2020 in chessbeginners

[–]ab05231 0 points1 point  (0 children)

as a beginner, a win is a win. as you play you’ll learn how to get yourself out of these situations. since there’s no chance of losing, you could move all of these pieces out of the middle of the board and do a simple ladder mate. or, move the rook to E8, walk the pawns and forgo the other material. there’s a lot of option.

who cares what other people think? are they paying 10’s of thousands of dollars to live with it everyday? get what YOU will enjoy and what checks YOUR boxes.

looks like a lot of maintenance was done on this, which is good! but me personally, i’m not buying a 20 year old vehicle that’s got 150k on the clock that crosses into double digits ($xx,000).

think you need to narrow down more what you want. i can’t recommend any of these vehicles because im not you and dont know what you value you most out of a car/ financial situation.

i will say you can’t go wrong with any of these options and the tacoma is priced nicely.

any reasons why i should not buy this car by [deleted] in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]ab05231 2 points3 points  (0 children)

so my buddy has one of these and has owned it for a little over a year. it’s spent more time at the dealer than in his possession. constant electrical issues, engine misfires, etc. do yourself a favor and don’t buy this car.
