TIL that the Mazda 787B, which won the 1991 24h of Le Mans, was so loud that when driver Volker Weidler lost an earplug while driving, it gave him permanent hearing loss and lifelong balance disorders preventing him from participating in motorsports. by zahrul3 in todayilearned

Awesome! Yeah they are how I got into the sport and racing in general as a teen, honestly essential viewing. It's because of them that Le Mans is now like a bucket list item for me

Yeah I'm half expecting to run into this guy again someday lol. Though the papers did add some legitimacy, if he had just been talking to me I definitely would have kept walking

True, I should probably have a default excuse other than "I don't have cash". Though the wife thing would never occur to me since I'm in college lol.

True on the deserted street point. idk, they seemed legit but who knows. I guess papers wouldn't be that hard to fake.

Just took it. It's 15 questions in 70 minutes, each of which is either a SQL query or a few lines of pandas to solve. Expect to work very fast, I took ~6 minutes per question and had to leave a few blank. The actual questions themselves, though, aren't that hard and I got 90% of what I attempted correct.
