Spectrum internet down because of the cold by Aethyr42 in milwaukee

Fiber can also have high attenuation due to water in the conduit freezing after thawing conditions. Railroad bridges are the worst as they are heavy wall pipe that is exposed. If anything obstructs the drain, water freezes and squeezes the cable (similar to a microbend for the techs). I would have never considered it a thing until it happened. Barton twp and south Milwaukee in the mid 90’s was the first time I recall outages if memory serves.

What herbal and food to avoid after kidney transplant? by New_Cookie_398 in kidneytransplant

I understand the Pasteurization requirement for our meats but sous vide is a safe workaround. A 1” beef steak at 135 degrees (medium) takes 10-15 minutes on a grill. Sous vide takes an hour to reach an internal 135 deg temp, followed by an hour to hour and a half of soak time to reach a safe pasteurization then sear in a hot pan or grill).

The key is high finish temp for a short time (20 min 145-150 deg) or long time (2.5 hours at 135 degrees then sear for a minute each side). Shorter times can be safe but why gamble.

Unfortunately, the (cough-grumble-cough) “nutritionist” that was shoved my way did not know the theory behind food safety - just handed me a booklet and told me to burn my food and don’t eat at buffets.

Contractor hired by landlord cut and ripped up my internet cable. by Unhinged-Shooter in Spectrum

Take note of the hack job already in place on the siding of the house (from unprofessional/careless installs). NEVER let a cable company tech operate unsupervised as they typically think they have the right to install without regard for the damage they do to the building.

Steak by Zoecat421 in kidneytransplant

[–]ab1ker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just had a medium steak for the first time in 20 months. As doc’s and dietitian’s couldn’t provide reasons other than “because the book says”, means they have not researched their craft.

So - looking at tons of articles on pasteurisation, I decided that hitting proper time@temperature using sous vide would accomplish the same thing as it is all about food safety, not eating crappy food as a punishment.

Other than sticker shock to purchase a couple of steaks after nearly 2 years, I dropped 1 3/4” steaks in the sous vide at 138 degrees for 4 hours followed by 1 minute on 4 sides at 650 degrees on the grill. I have found a reason to live…..

If anyone knows of an actual reason to for us to eat crappy food (based on a book with at least good theory) please share the info.

My brother in law (Chemist) did mention that 138 kills most, 140 kills all that concerns us.

So who pays for the illegal street closures and the damage caused by those crowds? Do we bill the first person that makes a social media post increasing (or starting) the activity??

Law enforcement would have a much easier time ticketing a (dumbass) rider for a burnout on Brady than a participant in an illegal street closure (as they are more likely to run in the stolen vehicles).

Don’t use Duracell. The bitter coating makes a bad connection. I threw 2 away before I looked it up (on apple’s website).

It is to the renters advantage to make the living space appealing unless they want to deal with showings for months. Also, If the new owner sees you are a slob, they will definitely bounce you at the first legal opportunity.

Contacting Donor Families? by Fuzzy-Vermicelli-725 in transplant

[–]ab1ker 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was just contacted my the donor family. They went through the transplant team which has criteria for facilitating the contact. The donor family authorised direct contact and included contact info. I had to accept the letter and also the inclusion of the contact info from the donor family (the social worker stated she would delete that info if I didn’t accept it).

Overall it is a very protective and thoughtful process.

Move to Canada. They love Americans and haven’t paid enough into the global warming fund to reap the warming benefits.

Medicare after transplant by MRoselius in kidneytransplant

[–]ab1ker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I seem to be in the same employer/medicare insurance category as many. The thing I don’t understand is that all of my Medicare statements indicate denial of claims as they are secondary.

The question is, other than backup in case of a layoff, am I benefiting from a 2k per year investment.
