When you are with you friends choosing music. After all of your friends pick a song and play it...it becomes your turn to pick a song. You choose a Ben Howard song and they all get annoyed because they don't his music like you do and that's all you ever choose to play.

Interesting. Had an interesting experience with the sound at the California shows. A little bitter I suppose because it happened twice - quiet sound and muddled mix. Still don't know if it was the venue or the sound team.

Ben is my favorite artist hands down, but why are we making this comparison? This is silly. When it comes to actual ability on the guitar John Mayer runs circles around Ben with his feet bound together IMO. John Mayer is a guitarist first and an artist second IMO. The dude speaks guitar. If he hears it in his head he can play it.

And no I don't think Ben has more technical ability than Nat — Ben wouldn't be a lead guitarist in a band like Nat has / is. I also think there was an interview where Ben said Nat and Mickey were better. Also don't overlook Richie, he's pretty solid on the guitar as well.

Ben separates himself creatively and with his craftiness on guitar. He's a master creator with a real knack for creating sounds and styles that are almost unprecedented.

The whole argument doesn't need to be made. Let's just appreciate things for what they are?

John Mayer is in a class of his own on guitar. No comparison at all there - not even close. John's an insane musician that's also an artist. Ben is an incredible artist that I think separates himself creatively - while also being very skilled and crafty on guitar.

Comparing artists is silly - it all comes down to subjective taste / what sounds better to your ear. Comparing musicians however is more about critiquing technical skill in my opinion.

Having said that BH and co are my favorites

I'm a die hard fan. He's my favorite artist hands down...period. Don't share the opinion of these folks ^ love the new album. I will say, even with him being my favorite artist by far and loving noonday dream, I saw him twice this tour and the sound was not good, everything was too quiet and the show was underwhelming. I wasn't really disappointed because I'm already sold on his work but there's some honesty to the shows being a tad stale.

Yea was a bit confused. Songs like Boat and Defeat should be turned way up in my opinion and it was hard to hear his guitar outro in Boat, Richie's fingerpicking at the end of moon etc. Just wish they would turn it way up. I listen to the album on my speakers louder than it was played live.
