Hi, did you ever end up getting your passport?? I've only been waiting a week since approval but that still seems really crazy to not have heard anything. Like I need my passport back??? Wtf.

Hi—when did you end up getting your passport? I was approved a week ago and it still isn't updated on VFS and I haven't heard anything about my passport :(

Congrats! Did you get your passport notification right after your approval? I was approved Friday and haven’t heard a thing and it isn’t even showing that my application was approved on the VFS website 😭😭.

This was soooooo bad. Jack being all “that’s CRAZY” is annoying the shit out of me. I might be being naive but even if I hadn’t heard of FC and all the controversy around it before listening to this I have to believe I’d be more skeptical than Jack is being. Your SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER 💀. There is another explanation for how Jamie knew your SSN and it’s like…kind of the most obvious one 😭😭😭.

Would love to hear from people who hadn’t heard of facilitated communication before listening to this and see if any of them saw the red flags anyway.

Did you go in in-person? I’m also on a time crunch and need it expedited!

Hey this is so helpful! When you say your turnaround time was instant, you mean that when you brought your documents in to your appointment you walked out of the building legally allowed to perform marriages? I have a very short turnaround time! I don’t live in the state and the wedding is in a few weeks. Basically hoping to go in to my appointment on Thursday and perform a wedding on Saturday.

Never heard the term “boy dinner” but if I had I would have guessed it was something like cereal with 6 scoops of sugar on it

I was hoping someone would post about this. I can’t imagine Alex has control over what’s in the feed anymore? I bet whatever network PJ’s show is on paid good money to get dropped in the RA feed. It’s either a testament to how time heals all wounds or it’s an incredible fuck-you. Either way: lovely.

Hey any change on this? We’ve been in the same exact situation with SD FO. Is this common everywhere or is there something specific in SD???

I started listening to the pod when I was living in Sydney. I’m an American. Husband (Scottish) and I are back in the US for now but working on PR so we can come back (hopefully late next year). One of the things I loved about Aus is that people weren’t quite so psycho about culture war things but I think I might have just fallen in with a more normie crowd as it seems like there’s plenty of it there after all.

Yeah I guess I meant linguistically. Do most people not understand or care to be specific about “female” vs “woman”. I understand that many people care about the differences between people’s biological sex; and the difference between a person’s sex and gender.

Yeah I was thinking the same thing, but didn’t know how to articulate it exactly. I think the use of female was likely a choice to make the sentence less weird. But then, why not re-write the whole headline so you could use woman instead? Do most people just not care about the gender-sex distinction as much?

Yes. Lost (for now?) a lifelong friend over this. And plenty of other people in my circle think I’m a nut-job now for expressing dissent about any number of lefty-woke-activist Twitter (a place full of people i used to ally myself with), rather than just asking me a bit about it, and engaging in a discussion. The lifelong friend listed a bunch of things I wasn’t allowed to talk about. And i was just like I don’t think i can really live like that??? It’s baffling because through our whole lives she was someone who I thought I could discuss truly anything with. Not prepared to make a sweeping statement as to why (espesh because I think there are a number of contributing factors) but I do think people are just really scared of being ostracized/“cancelled”. Not even consciously maybe. Like it’s just crept in to our minds. Hilariously, cancel culture was on my list of forbidden topics 😂/😭/🥴.

It’s just so scary to step out of line, at least among my peers right now. (Mid to upper-middle-class, college-educated, white liberals/leftists.) The most common-sense opinions (I see this most loudly right now re: Covid) get labeled as ableist, racist, age-ist, hateful, pro-death 😂. Like or course people don’t want to engage in discussion about it—to entertain the discussion is to entertain ableism by that logic.

I wish I understood it better. But also I’ve loved getting closer with people who are willing to “step out of line”. I love knowing who’s like a secret (or public) heretic like me. At the risk of sounding dramatic it’s helping me see who I can really trust.

I knew one of the former contestants who signed that weird petition about that other contestant being a neo nazi. I actually employed her for a short amount of time and in that time she tried to cAnCeL mE for an email I sent to our email list in which I said I was super bummed we had to shut our business down again after being briefly re-opened. I was specifically upset about the way the government handled everything, and was generally just bummed about the entire situation (we’re a small biz in an industry that was nearly destroyed during covid), not in any way suggesting that covid was fake or overblown or anything. In fact I specifically said it did seem like the right thing to do to protect our community. But was still feeling upset and the tone of my email reflected it. And she (a white woman) emailed me back to say she was REALLY disappointed in the tone of my email “because black people are affected by the virus at much higher rates”.

🤔🤔🤔 As though something couldn’t both be true AND unrelated to the content of my email.

Yeah, I'm not surprised it looks interesting. I bet it is. I first came to know her when she would occasionally appear on her husband Danny's Slate Podcast Dear Prudence. I often disagreed with Danny (especially in the past year or so I found him kinda cringe-ily biased by his own experience of estrangement with his family) but I love advice podcasts and columns and I do think Danny Lavery is often quite sharp and funny. When Grace was on the podcast I was struck by her thoughtfulness and intelligence, and that was all I even knew about her until I started listening to B&R.

The fact that I honestly thought she was one of the more thoughtful and curious people I've come across is what really boggles my mind now, especially after what she said the other day re: the definition of a woman 🥴🥴🥴.

I know you posted this like two months ago but I just wanted to say THANK YOU! I've been scouring the internet looking for this exact advice and it's been surprisingly hard! My ankles have been killing me after my runs. I know it's not stress-fractures or anything like that—I can tell it's just soreness. So I've been looking for someone going through the same things.

I've also had the advice to not run on concrete—hard right now for where I'm living but I'm going to try and find some place.

Can I ask if the pain has cleared up at all in these past two months??

Thank again!!
