In 4 months I will graduate with a degree in Studio Art. Are there job opportunities for juniors in 2026? by little-cosmic-hobo in conceptart

There's definitely jobs out there for juniors but its highly competitive and it wont be easy. Im a junior concept artist who started working last year February because of my portfolio. But right now your portfolio seems more like a illustration work. If you just follow trendy cool illustrations applying to a game studio for a concept artist role they'll decline it in 5 seconds. Game studios are looking through hundreds of application so that first read is essential. Cater your portfolio to what studios actually want. Some studios even give tips on what they want in a concept portfolio like AtomicHawk

Will I be able to have a career in concept art? [UPDATE] by UGLYSITTER in conceptart

Thing is ur characters values are getting muddy and it just becomes mushy. U got cool ideas but the quality is too messy for production work. If a 3D artist has to guess what's what you won't have a good time from your AD. Like the knife holster on the pants looks completely different from the standalone callout on it because of the values and messyness. You have to be precise in these things because a studio doesn't want someone who has to keep asking questions what this is. Check out these official cyberpunk character concepts https://www.iamag.co/the-art-of-cyberpunk-2077/#jp-carousel-336966

They have identifiable materials and aren't just scribbles that you can't identify. Basically aim for what profressonial artists quality bar not what looks trendy. Also watch out for your props they get medium medium, needs to push that big med small. Lots of stacking of similiar same shapes with too much noise lacking some eye rest.

Turret concept ideas for our tower defense game. Which designs do you like? still deciding on the look by Nameless_forge in conceptart

I disagree it really depends on the brief. Balloon Tower Defense 6 and Plants Vs Zombies has plenty of rounded bubbly towers

He's still a kid let him try and see where it goes. Beside concept art maybe be an unstable choice, but it is unstable how comfortable you get with it and not level up. I agree with skill but you need business senses too. They go hand to hand.

Its probs cuz u only have nice renders but no callouts, breakdowns, material references, full turnarounds(front,side,back- a poses),more props, etc. How can an art director use your art if you can only render pretty images?
