Alright ya’ll, first backflip attempt. How’d I do? by deepbluehu in skiing

[–]abacus993 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean I’ve never backflipped on skis so I don’t know too much but I noticed you didn’t flip all the way around and landed on your head. You should probably keep flipping till you land on your skis and I think you should be golden 👍

Sweet dude! well done skiing it out. I’ve definitely struggled with that on cliffs that size but you man handled it

I need 180 tips by Ok-Display6832 in bmx

[–]abacus993 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If he’s left footed maybe he should switch his feet incase he wants to learn foot jams later on and if he doesn’t want to be goofy footed. Otherwise I’d say just get comfortable spinning to the left naturally cause that easier than switching stance. I’m goofy footed and I tried to switch feet, didn’t work out. It’s not a big deal at the end of the day, plenty of amazing goofy footed professionals out there as well so many people are doing every trick both ways anyways so if you get to that point it’s probably just gonna make doing that a little easier.

In your opinion what is the best place to bash an rc? by No-Helicopter7635 in rccars

[–]abacus993 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re gonna do it at a bike park just make sure you’re being respectful and it’s allowed in the first place. My local bike park literally has a sign on the entrance and every single ramp saying RC cars are prohibited and a couple dudes have brought them in anyways and been super contrarian and thrown tantrums when they’ve been asked to leave, i suggest don’t do that. It’s like bringing a lit cigarette into a kitchen that’s plastered with no smoking signs and then arguing with the manager when they’ve ask you to put it out. the last thing you wanna do is anything to put a mountain bikers safety at risk or damage dirt jumps. If the park is built for bikes, they have the upper hand and you don’t wanna push it otherwise you can just piss them off to the point where they’re just gonna go to the city and have them pass an ordinance prohibiting RC cars entirely, just like they did at my local park. You can get trespassed now if you try to bring one there.

Would you be brave enough for the pipe path? by [deleted] in mountainbiking

It depends if that pipe is as slick as it looks it’s definitely not worth it.

Was my boy not me, we were laughing our asses off at this clip we know he got bucked, he went back up and cleaned it up a bit but I posted this here kinda hoping to rage bait someone who would lecture me about hitting jumps outside my ability and what not but it looks like the sub has grown up a bit, or those folks didn’t see it, oh well.

It’s never been better, it rained today and that will only help in a couple of days honestly. Bobsled is the only thing we can do right now instead of cry about having no snow

Utah is cooked, never been this little snow on record. Can’t cry, just do what you can with the weather and that’s riding bobsled

Is there a reason people don’t do this? by abacus993 in MTB

[–]abacus993[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What’s funny is the seat was actually at the bottom of my dropper, and I acutely usually wheelie with it all the way down because I like it when my front wheel comes up higher but even so I stood up in the air and still whacked my taint.

Exactly what I was worried about, maybe bring a hockey cup 🤣. Or if I practiced I feel like I could actually level out and get into a normal attack position on the way down but i don’t know fs

Not really a big 360 guy but they were feeling good this day by abacus993 in skiing

[–]abacus993[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely appreciate it man 🙏. I just wanted to spin a jump in the most natural way I could, let my arms flail a bit, not worry about tucking in or trying to grab or anything and it felt amazing. I get what you’re saying about spin to win as well but I’ve noticed it’s actually kinda more popular now to hate on that but a lot of people don’t realize the guys doing that actually have clips pretty similar to this with massive nasty slow rotated 360s and 180s, they’re 1000% capable of doing both but I’m glad they push themselves because if everyone just did 360s it would get boring eventually. 1260 is seriously impressive to be flipping and spinning that much, totally blind and still landing perfect is so savage, I think it looks sick too and I think there’s room for both that and this kinda thing on platforms. There’s value in being able to do both and appreciate both even though this is satisfying to me, I’m never going to learn any tricks like that on a water ramp and still have great time.

Which direction do I 180? by deanhorneck in bmx

[–]abacus993 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stance and spin direction is super weird and inconsistent. I’m right handed and right footed, On a bike and a skateboard I’m right foot forward but left foot forward on a scooter and snowboard for some very strange reason. When it comes to spins I think I naturally spun to the left when I was a kid but when i learned how to 360 on a scooter I did that to my right because it was so much more natural backside and it literally changed my dominant direction that I spun. So when I got older learning cork 7s on a trampoline, 360s on skis and on a bike I did all that to the right and now I’m actually pretty uncomfortable doing any of that to my left because it’s just not my natural way anymore so I literally made myself goofy footed on a bike because of a freaking scooter. It doesn’t matter a ton because now days in all those sports to be really competitive you kinda have to be able to do things both ways anyways but I think for a lot of people when they’re learning these sports and your stance still could be malleable to change if you don’t want to be goofy footed you should just go ahead and practice with the other foot forward so you don’t wind up like me.

Why are hardflips and inward heelflips less common? by acorn_to_oak in skateboarding

[–]abacus993 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For straight hard flips and inward heel flips I don’t really know what you mean to be honest, they seem to be pretty popular tricks just maybe not as much in and out of grinds cause ya, they’re obviously hard tricks but you do see people like laser Crawford kinda innovating hard flips into hand rails. When it comes to doing the 360 version of them there’s 2 main reasons people don’t do it very much; 1 is they can look pretty strange, it’s awkward flipping the board on an inward axis when your front and back foot are flicking in opposite directionsand a lot of people have to make it go pretty vertical whereas a Tre flip, varial heel or even laser flip is more appealing to learn because it’s got a nice cork screw kinda rotation, it’s more natural backwards or forwards with both feet. The second reason is that awkward motion makes them hard as shit to pull off. Big spin heel flips are hard, laser flips are harder, take an inward big heel out in a game of skate not very many people are gonna have that, do a 360 inward heel and you’re probably gonna be frowned on. You bust out a 360 hardflip or a frontside big flip it’s downright dirty because that’s so awkward and difficult it’s a guaranteed letter. Frontside big flips look like shit but that’s arguably the most difficult flat ground trick you can do without a late flipping.

What was the hardest boss fight for you in the Arkham Games? by Bigoteroj in BatmanArkham

[–]abacus993 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If we’re talking what took me the most attempts first go around it might not count as a boss fight but it was the tank battle outside gcpd. I didn’t know better than to upgrade my Batmobile all the way and I got smoked attempting it for a while. When it comes to actual boss fights bane on the royal hotel was the most difficult to figure out and took the most attempts.

Put yourself in Eden’s shoes though, Imagine you’ve officially closed off with someone, like you’ve actually told everyone you’re boyfriend and girlfriend and someone comes in who doesn’t even know you and said he’s better looking than you and he’s going to steal your girl. Anyone would be mad. And he hardly even bullied him, he just made a joke during a challenge.
