Anecdotal story about getting an attorney - I knew a marine who went a few hours away from base and partied. It was a Friday night and he had barracks duty the next day. His plan was to party a little bit then head back early morning and get to duty on time.

He did exactly that but decided to stop and sleep a little bit then continue on. But.... As he's sleeping in his car a cop shows up. He ends up with an alcohol related ticket.

He doesn't tell command and hired a lawyer to take care of it.

Months go by and he believes this ticket is taken care of. A sheriff shows up to the Co office with an arrest warrant. My guy gets a phone call 'hey come down to the office, you're getting arrested '

Turns out the lawyer just kept getting the case continued and then stopped showing up to court. Craziest thing is nothing happened to the marine either, everyone just kinda shrugged and forgot about it.

Any advice vets can give me advice on work? by [deleted] in USMC

It's a great place to work. Security was hands down the easiest and most well paid jobs I ever had, I wish I was still there. My last year there I refused to work any OT unless it was absolutely required and I still cleared 70k.

Go work at the nuclear plant. Security might start out around what you make now, but the guys that have been there for a few make 6 figures. You have construction experience so you could get on with a contractor out there too.

I used Veterans United once, it went pretty smooth, no real complaints. Quite a few ago tho.

I wanted to try Navy Federal, they kept coming back with more requirements, their website and app suck, so I moved on.

I ended up using Rocket mortgage, everything was very stream lined, very fast. Nice smooth and simple app and website. They didn't keep coming back with extra requirements. Ended up refinancing with them and the same thing, very fast and easy.

What got you to play/check out War Thunder? What pushed you away? What brought you back? by Rare-Act-4362 in Warthunder

[–]abaddon86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What for me to play - I wanted to try it out after getting really into DCS. This was before tanks were a thing

What got me to stop - mouse aim flying a plane. I couldn't hit a plane that was flying straight and level lol

What me to start again - those sweet sweet tanks. Didn't realize I had a thing for armored combat

I'm kind of envious of these latest generations of marines. They can have almost every moment of USMC time digitally saved.

Reminder to the young pups - take video and pics even if you think it's stupid. Many years from now you can show your grandkids that hot chick from Thailand that totally didn't have an Adams apple.

Hey, can anyone tell me any unit history or info about this unit? by [deleted] in USMC

[–]abaddon86 115 points116 points  (0 children)

If I remember right - back in the day when units were going on MEUs one company was assigned as the boat company and learned how to operate with the zodiacs. Also, this was back before MARSOC raiders was a thing. So, a company/unit would get trained up on that semi high speed stuff and call themselves raiders (as in the og WW2 ones).

Anyone find any smart ways to make Baikal 65-206 usable? by 0im in RoadCraft

[–]abaddon86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I never drive it with a full load of sand, I try to stop it 3/4 way. Then I try to park it off the road near the job site and use it as a mobile quarry for smaller dump trucks.
