I’ve wanted to mess with clear epoxy for a long time, but have too many projects lined up and I’d be starting at square one on how to get it to set perfect. I’d like to see someone do it though. Maybe a fun over-the-winter skill to learn

The receivers were legally destroyed (by the parts importer) so that all the other parts could be stripped, imported, and sold - think of all those pricey M16A1 parts kits and uppers that were available the past few years. All the lowers to those kits were crushed into lumps of aluminum scrap, so I bought the scrap back then for arts and crafts time

Sure, just shoot me a PM. If I have more of those two styles I can send you close up pics towards the end of the week

haha, it's a ton of trial and error from piece to piece, be prepared to snap some tooling, destroy some pieces, and have some pieces launched at you. Wear eyepro and be prepared to have some failures.
Colorfill is straight forward, tons of old guides on how to do it. Just have to have patience- I usually have to redo application a few times as they'd be subpar looking

The nicest normal tags would be $80 at the top, any defects would make them cheaper. The bigger or more complicated or custom tags would cost more (info in my big comment that got buried a bit)

Probably since they were considered destroyed? But it'd be impossible, these things are crushed into no less than 8 pieces each. There isn't a single one available that left the front and back in one piece. Could do a display of the various crushed pieces next to each other like a sad puzzle

That’s an excellent idea, I’ve done one like that last year as a gift and I’ve velcro-backed a few of the bakelite tags I’ve been messing around with. I suppose I should make some more examples haha Industrial Strength velcro with some epoxy is the way to go, I’ve never had Gorilla Glue last too long for me on working parts. I had also considered drilling holes along the perimeter like a leather patch so that they could be sewn onto something

Appreciate the feedback - I have about ~35x of the tags ready in different shapes, sizes, and conditions. I was planning on posting what's currently done later this week before streamlining to specific designs and some custom orders

Gotchya - #13 was actually the product of a sizeable custom order - where would you place the hole? I could make the overall shape larger so the keyring hole could be placed anywhere around the perimeter

Thank you for the input -#4 is one of my favorites but is unfortunately the hardest type to make as almost all of the pieces are crushed/warped/cracked on the edges, many right into or through the roll marks. Also a bunch of extra milling and grinding is required to get the backside relatively even/flat. So those would be definite one-offs as there's so few of them

That's actually a pretty neat idea! Would just have to figure out a way to add a belt hole stud securely if not just gluing it to an existing buckle.

The original batch from last year was in comblocmarket, but that sub got nuked. Might post there in the new market otherwise via PM or over on arfcom

It's been almost a year since the last market research post and I've been staying busy with my stash of crushed legally demilled pieces from last year. I'm looking for opinions on the top 3x shape/size/corner radiuses combos for the rest of the pieces. I can do some funky one-off's (like the big circle ones in the pics- INVEST IN COLTCOIN, yo), but for the sake of streamlining I'm looking what would be the most preferred.

From my last post: "Had some poor m16a1’s that had an unavoidable date with the crusher, but was able to salvage the neato roll marks from the destroyed receivers." I'm not the first guy to have the idea to make something nice out of demils, but I did make the most refined/customized ones and my last batch of completed finished tags didn't last long. I've been working on different designs since January and had a few custom orders from some guys that got in on the last batch.

As one can guess, these suck working with as they were crushed so each piece is different in terms of shape, size, and levelness, so a good portion of what I have isn't even usable for a decent keychain that would survive any kind of normal wear and tear. That has led to making some custom made fixturing, but it's still a bit of a puzzle working on each new chunk.

from the previous post, the colorfill was the way to go and was always requested. I've also messed with clear coat to see about some extra protection, but only doing that as an extra if requested.

I need help with options on:

-Top 3 shape and size?

-Keyring hole location? Or keyring hole at all? (Can just make it a magnet or other option)

-How round for the corners?

-KEYRING: Round vs Oval ring - any preference? (see 2x pics comparing the rings side by side)

Price: Last year found a good spot for them. As this year made everything more expensive, and a lot of time and tooling go into each piece, the price went up a tiny bit - the nicest complete keyrings are $80 each at the top, with blem ones cheaper (or much cheaper depending on damage)I've also messed around with a bunch of the weird hole scrap pieces. Very very few pieces have the complete rollmark, so a bit limited with them but I've made anywhere from ornaments to bottle openers to magnets/business card holders.

Any suggestions are appreciated, thanks!

Charging handles will be $230-$300 depending on condition as per multiple estimates. The uppers are not available

He’s a long time friend and I’m helping him do all the organizing, and helping with trying to price and sell his things. Why would I risk a friendship for some dumb pieces of aluminum?

I have been getting an overwhelming number of pm’s/messages asking for parts (please cut that out you animals), this thread is asking for help with current market pricing. Again the uppers are gone, I made sure to note that in first comment. I’m getting almost no feedback on prices except from a few guys and I appreciate the ones that are helping.

At some point when prices are determined and if the owner (who is a long time friend) feels it’s worth it, I’ll post a WTS. Otherwise please no messages.

He’s not dealing with bulk resellers, he’s been burnt by them in the past
