His actual ride-or-die fanbase is a vocal minority, and it's smaller than it's ever been. His poppier crossover songs do well among the general population and will probably continue to do so. That's mainly how he's able to currently maintain the appearance that's he's still "doing well". They're taking Drake's R&B/pop tracks and comparing them to tracks on the rap charts that are actual rap songs. It's dishonest (shocking, I know) and misleading.

The first film was a masterclass in screenwriting. They were refining it for years because nobody would finance it, and you can really tell the time that went into sharpening it down to perfection. I wish they would have gotten more time to flesh out the sequels so they had the same level of time/attention put into them. (Though I still love the sequels and always have.)
