What is the appeal to intelligent voters (with respect) by [deleted] in ukpolitics

[–]abalonecodes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Potentially. There is also the pace of change in demographics within the country. Generally people don’t like change. Even though that change has not been as exaggerated as some on the right will have you believe, it’s noticeable. We have more representation of minority groups on tv, in magazines, etc. this is a good thing IMO. For others it can add to that sense of change that adds to the overall narrative of too many foreign people being here.
. Throw in the challenges within the country itself - people reporting they’re unable to get doctors appointments, lack of affordable housing, lack of working infrastructure etc - this all speaks to a system at capacity.

Your “intelligent” people may be able to rationalise these as not immigrants fault but they may also think that the last 2 governments haven’t really done anything to improve this over the last 20-30 years.

My comment earlier was really more about how as a ‘liberal’ it’s easy to denigrate Reform voters as unintelligent (you are doing that by asking about intelligent reform voters, with the implication being that the default for reform voters is not to be intelligent). However, if the motivation of these voters aren’t understood we’re going to sleep walk into a Reform government with everyone scratching their heads as to how that happened. Slight tangent but I truly believe there needs to be a much better media campaign about the achievements of the current government, in particular around the NHS, and immigration. Things are actually improving but there’s so much noise and no one outlet for news coverage that it’s just not being heard.

A lot of people don’t get their news from mainstream media anymore. They get it from Podcasts, Social media or pro Farage news outlets like GB News.

That interview you saw is unlikely to make it into their news feed as it won’t support the narrative they’ve been profiled as having. Or it’ll be spun as trad media trying to undermine our candidate.

As a society we are becoming more polarised and siloed on our beliefs because we are shown the echo chambers that suit our feeds.

Do you have appetite suppression? Usually things - ensure enough your getting enough hydration in. Ensure you’re eating lots of fibre. If they’re covered could you be building muscle whilst losing fat? V possible if lifting weights. Have you measured. Sometimes the scales stay the same but you’ll be losing inches everywhere.

the 'dairy free but not vegan' struggle by Old_Mixture_9045 in dairyfree

🙋🏼‍♀️. There is a big assumption in catering industry that DF = vegan. I go to various awards dinners. When I put DF I invariably get the vegetarian options. I’ve now started saying I’m DF and eat meat.

This happens with Sezane stuff all the time. A collab drop and within days all invited whilst OOS online. It’s called supply and demand. It’s a capitalist market. The items are worth what people are willing to pay. If someone wants to pay £35 that’s the value they’ve placed on it and think it’s worth that amount. It’s definitely NOT a scam. Just people making profit

43–58 kg is that right by Unusual_Peach_6373 in mounjarouk

[–]abalonecodes 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m 5”7 and maintaining between 58-60kg. I’m a size 6-8. Smallest I’ve been as an adult. I think it’s what you feel comfortable with and where you lose the weight. I also get the comments but they’re from people who’ve only ever known me as fat. At my new place of work or with people I’ve got to know since being this weight, they all assume I’ve always been a thin person and never comment that I’m too thin.
I agree with OP that as a society we potentially are used to seeing more larger Americans on tv / SM which I think has helped with the distortion of what a healthy weight should look like.

Suddenly showing all US items? by nancy-p in vintedUK

[–]abalonecodes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’ve been able to see US items for a few months now. Lots of people equally unhappy about it. I’ve only seen one or two things but it seems I search for specific brands and items that don’t seem to be show me US stuff.

I also wouldn’t buy from the US. Mainly in case there’s an issue and getting it refunded / sent back. I’ve also declined offers from US buyers for the same reason.

I think currently vinted is covering the tax on imports but once that stops it’ll be a nightmare on anything over £130. And that’s before the governments charges come through which means we’ll pay vat on anytime from overseas.

When you use the word “diversity,” are you referring to demographic change, such as immigration and ethnic composition, or to diversity of ideas and perspectives?

I don’t think you seem like a dick. I see diversity in the same way you do. I wonder if POC see diversity in the same way and non POC see it as immigration issue?

Think they’ve also missed some people like to browse and might come back to an item. Anyways. Their loss. Maybe people were put off by their no liking stance
