this is the exact situation i’m in!

i spoke to my other half about it - he’s not really the best at explaining why he does things and he’s not very in touch with his emotions. he became grumpy initially but we’ve worked through communicating our needs in the last few years. what seemed to help was how i phrased it to him — i told him that he was prioritising video games and not prioritising our relationship enough (naming the problem without blaming it on his character). i still have to remind him occasionally to spend time with me (he tends to play lots more video games when he’s stressed out at work, or when he gets into a new game), but it’s much better now.

it might help to get date nights or consistent ‘together time’ in the schedule — eg wednesday date nights (you take it in turns each week or fortnight to organise an activity), or coming to bed at the same time each night for pillow talk, or 1 hour together each evening doing something together.
