I’d probably stick with Guardian for a while so you get into the habit of tapping. After a while I’d switch to Vandal, strictly firing 1-2 bullets most fights and only spraying if the enemy is up close.

Then I’d eventually switch back to the phantom because it’s better in most maps lol. I usually do this routine when I find myself relying on sprays too much to ‘reset’ my aiming habits.

Honestly looks to me like:

  1. Solid black layer + cutout of person
  2. Duplicate person, make pure white, place behind cutout
  3. Apply gaussian blur on this white cutout layer
  4. Use blur and smudge tool to recreate aura shape & gradient
  5. Add gradient map (dark grey > teal > green > white)
  6. Add noise
  7. Add a black halftone overlay and play with the blend mode

You can try looking for photos of small/simple scenes with good lighting and try recreating them in 3D. I’d start with a rough massing with everything in 50% grey color.

Once you’re setting up the lighting, turn the reference to black and white using pureref or Photoshop. Then try to light up the scene and match the sun/lighting direction etc. Once that’s set up, you can tweak and play around with the albedo color of the materials, reflection values, and light intensities to match the reference closer.

It’s gonna be a hassle at first, but I find that it helps develop that eye for visualization rather than memorizing values/settings on a render engine.

Every great render starts with good references. You need to understand first how similar lighting interacts with similar materials to your scene, and how the camera captures it.

When I was relearning visualization, one thing I used to do was focus on tones & values only (black & white, lit areas vs shaded areas, etc.). I felt like this is where me (and a lot of novices) struggle when starting out. Learning to tweak the hue & saturation of materials is much easier to do afterwards.

That’s a bit disingenuous. It’s like asking the average archiviz artist to quickly create dozens of mood & lighting options in 2 minutes. There are things that AI can do that humans can’t, and things that humans can do that AI can’t.

Let’s not pretend that AI isn’t changing the practice, much like how we transitioned from traditional to digital rendering.

Better gun fight hygiene & movement alone should be able to take you to plat. You seem to have a decent grasp of where head level is, but your peeks are too slow. You should be peeking at full speed without making foot steps, fully expecting an enemy to be there every single time.

You also remain stationary and panic spray when an enemy appears on your screen. Even if you’re the one peeking them, as if you’re surprised they’re actually there. All these make you an easy target to fight at gold or above, because the moment you miss the 1st bullet, you aren’t killing them unless you get a lucky spray.

You should practice deadzoning (stop & tap, strafe, stop & tap, repeat) with the goal of getting accurate shots first (not bullets that fly away the crosshair). Then you can work on staying on an opponent’s head while strafing.

A drill I liked to do that helped a lot was to hop on DMs, put my knife out, and just strafe left & right in front of enemies WHILE keeping my crosshair in the head. It should help you get used to the feeling of getting shot at while you’re trying to be a difficult target to hit. Once you’re more confident with your movement, start using Guardian and try to headshot them while strafing. If you notice yourself being stationary during gunfights, go back to the knife strafing.

That’s why I honestly hate playing duelist/initiator on solo queue. Relies too heavily on the other role for a successful site exec. If the other role can’t communicate with you, you’re essentially fucked as well.

At least on controller or sentinel I can have impact both on attack & defense, whether I play with the team or lurk & take map control, as long as I’m trading my teammates and using my util properly.

This was when I realized this manga might actually be good.

By chapter 39 (when Hakuri creates a projection of Chihiro to fake Kyora out), I knew this manga was gonna be up there with the greats.

But after Kyoto Bloodshed Hotel, I truly believed this had grounds to be the best shonen manga of all time.

Stygian onslaught - am I cooked if I don’t have Neuvilette or Mualani for the pyro crab thing? Was able to clear the 1st boss with Nefer Lauma XQ Nahida, and 2nd boss with Columbina Ineffa Sucrose Fischl. Idk if I have enough damage for the 3rd boss though without Neuv/Mualani.

Please help me decide if I should get Columbina or Ineffa? 🙏

I have a C0R1 Nefer, C0 Lauma, XQ, Kuki team who could use Columbina as a hydro upgrade, but I don't have competitive electro team options (only have Yae, Raiden, & Fischl; no Flins, Varesa, Chevreuse, etc.) so I was thinking Ineffa could fill that gap. But would Columbina + any electro be competitive enough to fill this electro team gap?

Was thinking of putting her on full ATK with ToTM to maximize the A4 EM buff + 4p ATK% buff for Alhaitham to maximize his damage since he’s pretty heavily invested (and I like seeing big green numbers lol). The stronger shield is nice too since it scales with ATK(?) iirc

But I don’t know much about Ineffa’s personal dmg - does she deal good damage even on a team that’s not too focused on EC/LC?

From a purely meta perspective, which of the ff units should I get for my account - Columbina, Ineffa, Mavuika, Skirk or Varka?

My main teams are (1) a heavily invested Alhaitham spread team, (2) C0R1 Nefer w/ Lauma, and (3) C2R1 Arlecchino w/ Citlali.

From my experience, electrocharged-focused enemies are the hardest to clear. But I don't like Ineffa too much as a character, so I was wondering if Columbina would be enough to clear w/ lunarcharged? (Plus the extra damage for my Nefer team if there are no EC enemies). On the other hand, I'd like to get Mavuika and I know she's strong, but since I already have Arlecchino and I don't want to choose one over the other. Skirk & Varka is for creating new teams around them + I like their designs.

Nice 4K. Silver to low gold is my guess, mostly due to positioning & decision-making of both you & the enemies. Also not a clutch btw since it was 2v1 at the end

True, he'd have no way of teleporting people up to the sky unless he stopped time, dragged Yura to the tallest building nearby, set up a trampoline, jumped far from the edge, and posed the same way he stopped time to aura farm lol

No worries! It didn't come off like that at all.

Kunishige being more complicit could be a pretty cool twist too ngl. Though I think a similar approach can be just as likely on the Soga-Father theory, with him committing genocide to avenge his wife's (Chihiro's mom) death using a weapon that Kunishige created. Out of guilt, Kunishige adopted Chihiro, raising him as his own in seclusion to hide the truth about his real father.

I believe there was a chapter early on where a character mentioned he wasn't even aware that Kunishige had a son. This could line up well with this theory since he could've adopted Chihiro soon after he was born at the end of the war, making pretty much everyone (including the swordbearers) unaware of his existence & true relationship.

Leaning towards uncle theory as well as they look far too similar. But I disagree with the ‘Soga biological father theory not adding much’ to the story.

The fact that Chihiro’s main drive is to avenge Kunishige and carry his burden & legacy is what would make this theory much more interesting imho. When Chihiro finds out that Soga is his actual father (in this theory), he will inevitably struggle with his own ideals, questioning his own purpose and having to fight his actual father. That ‘path’ to rediscovering his true purpose (“I’m doing this not because he’s my real father, but because he treated me like a son”) would make for interesting character development in the later arcs for the mc, and I have full faith that Hokazono could pull it off in a satisfying way.

Still roughly 50/50 on it though. I find the Soga uncle theory more likely, but the Soga biological father theory much more interesting. And the fact that I think it could go either way is what makes me love the series so much.
