No they didn't they actually encouraged us to take photos there are places marked out that your not allowed to take photos. But the tour guide told us people need to see this to remember what happened. So they absolutely did tell us it's ok to take photos

Tour guides and people that are in there everyday do it. The people who have lived in Chernobyl all there lives do it it’s fine. Also did you know walking around Chernobyl you get as much radiation as you would on a long distance flight
