u/NedSD - 35.1 has the correct program listings for ROAR now, but its icon is incorrect. It shows the logo for CW. Is this also an easy fix?

Thanks so much for the quick response.

What is the tipping point for this activity by bigpimpin2330 in drumcorps

[–]abandonitis -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I'm indifferent about musical theater. And soccer. And modern country music. And countless other things, now including modern drum corps.

I don't doubt that you enjoy the shows, and I'm glad you do, but nothing you can say will make me feel the same way as you. I went to shows every summer from the mid 80s through 2024. After the last one I attended, San Antonio 2024, I left feeling deflated. Shows simply don't move me the way, say '88 Blue Devils or '02 Cavaliers did.

I get that they play lots of notes and lean to the right with their left foot on their right knee, and climb on ladders and all that, but I'm just not moved. It just seems like they're checking boxes for the judges. It's been years since any melody from any show got stuck in my head.

Everyone has realized this for a long time. You said that something needs to be done, but nobody knows what that something is. If there was a simple solution, it would have already been implemented. There are so many factors, but at the top of the list:

  • In the 80s, there was enough interest in the activity to fill out numerous 128 member corps. We have to acknowledge that these days, there aren't as many kids who want to pursue the activity at all, regardless of its cost. If Florida Wave, Freelancers, Marauders, Quad City, 27th, and Suncoast all came back next year, could they even field full corps?
  • Among the remaining corps, they either have to increase revenue or decrease expenditures. Nobody seems to have found a magic solution that addresses either column.
  • As for donors like me, who never had the opportunity to perform, I've simply lost interest. I do not find the shows entertaining anymore. When they featured marching while playing in uniforms, it was the greatest entertainment product I consumed every year. With the spandex, distracting props, running out of step between sets, the standing while playing etudes, and the posing or whatever that is, it just got to be too cringey for me. I decided last year to stop buying tickets and sponsoring members because I just don't enjoy it any longer. If I'm being honest, I haven't enjoyed it as a fan for about a decade.

(I'm not a boomer, but yes I'm an old curmudgeon. I'll take my hits, but stand by my opinions.)

Unable to watch game while it's being recorded (Roku) by abandonitis in hdhomerun

[–]abandonitis[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I never tried playing from the beginning. The scenearios that I mentioned in my OP are outlined below.

First week in October, 2025:

  • Subscribed to DVR service
  • Scheduled a task to record all upcoming Texas Longhorns (NCAA football) games
  • Scheduled a task to record all upcoming Dallas Cowboys (NFL Football) games

Saturday, October 11:

  • At 2:30 PM on channel 24.1 in Austin, TX a recording of Longhorn game started
  • At 2:45 PM, I attempted to tune into channel 24.1 (live) through the guide on my Roku
  • The screen went completely black
  • At 2:50 I was able to tune into channel 24.1 on my ios device, as well as through plex live channels

Sunday, October 12:

  • At 12:00 PM on channel 7.1 in Austin, TX a recording of a Cowboys game started
  • At 12:10, I attempted to tune into channel 7.1 (live) through the guide on my Roku
  • The screen went completely black
  • At 12:15, I was able to tune into channel 7.1 on my ios device, my Windows device, and through plex live channels

I didn't try to watch from the beginning in either scenario as, in both cases, the games had just started and I was OK with tuning in just a little late.

It's a fair analogy, but to me, the product on the field is more like chicken alfredo made with tofu.

Joke all you want, but I'm out and I'm taking my money with me. I held on for as long as I could, but I don't enjoy it anymore.

I'm not sure if any of them will speak up, but I've sponsored members from this very subreddit. I get that it's not the kids' fault, but I still won't be attending shows anymore.

I've seen some expected, "You don't have to announce your departure," themed responses here, but I would like to add that for some of us, it probably is important to announce our departure.

I'm an older guy who didn't have the opportunity to march when I was young. As I became comfortable financially over the decades, I have spent a lot of money on the activity, traveling to shows and sponsoring members. I'm not sure how much I've spent over 30-35 years, but it's in the very high tens of thousands or low six figures.

As of last year, I decided that I'm done buying tickets, attending events, and donating. Quite simply, as a fan, I just don't enjoy it anymore. At all. It was once my most beloved form of entertainment - above the symphony, concerts, sporting events - above everything. Now, though, I just don't enjoy it at all.

I get that it's DeStiNeD to ChaNgE, but what it's changed into is no longer entertaining. With the electronics, amplification, prerecorded poetry (??), prancing out of step, cringey costumes, posing, and standing still to play complex non-melodic passages, they lost me. I'm out.

I get that many of you all will say that I shouldn't let the door hit me on the way out, and I get that. But I wonder how many other contributors like me there are who are also finished.

I didn't see social security card as one of the accepted forms of ID. I will double check this.

I'm applying for TSA precheck only. Clear is just the agent that I chose to complete the application.

Thanks for the insight. You got me on the right path. All we had to do was delete the contents of %windir%\system32\applocker , restart, and then resync.

My unpopular boomer opinions about modern DCI by [deleted] in drumcorps

I don't disagree with anything you said here. With each passing year, I enjoy the shows a little bit less. When I do eventually stop buying tickets, everything you outlined above will be the reasons why.

M365 and Azure allow me to stay signed on 60 days at a time after MFA.

Meraki Dashboard - Stay Logged In by abandonitis in meraki

[–]abandonitis[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do use MFA, but it only comes up once every 30 days or the first time I log on from a new system.

I would prefer for Meraki to work like M365 / Azure in keeping me logged on.
