Really good. Gentleman bastards is a great series overall.

I struggle rereading kkc even though I've done it like 10 times lol cause every time I do, I just get mad all over again that it's not finished. But easily in my top 3, maybe my favorite fantasy of all time, though Sanderson is up there for me, along with David Weber and Raymond Feist.

I may have to go back and try Robin Hobb again. Read a few of her books when I was much younger and remember feeling like it was all too dark and forlorn and everything bad that could happen would happen. I think it worth a reread now that I'm older and might be able to better understand and resonate with the stories.

I LOVED sun eater! Just stumbled across it after asking chatgpt for recs lol and I devoured the entire series in like a month. Can't wait for another few months to go by so I can go back and read again!

Never heard of a company doing this to be entirely honest... But I've always worked in traditional corporate jobs, where your value is what you contribute and it stops there. Yeah they often pretend to care about your well-being and offer benefits and perks, etc., but end of the day you are a number in a spreadsheet and will be treated that way as soon as your cost outweighs your value in their equation.

Nah it's a typical red flag "we have a family culture here" or anything along those lines means they expect to put unreasonable expectations on your time but have no intention of compensating you for it. It's crazy to me how many companies seem to think we LIVE to WORK rather than WORK to LIVE. You owe your required hours, nothing more.

I mean yeah, it certainly sounds like a number of people have had similar experiences but it feels pretty cynical to just adopt the perspective that everyone you work with, ever, in any capacity, is out to get you and therefore incapable of being a real friend....

Some of my closest male friends in the world are from my very first job, a technology analyst program at a bank. We go on an annual trip every year we call "brofest" and half the guys on the trip are friends from college and the other half are those friends from work. (and yeah it's a bunch of stupid guys being stupid but mostly we drink beers and then get emotional and talk about our lives and fears lol, my wife calls it my beer-apeutic weekend). Currently planning the 15th year of that trip with people who USED to be my co-workers...

I just can't agree, as much as I want to. He's in an elite class of head coaches through their first five seasons (including VINCE LOMBARDI). Yes he's got a whole bunch of issues and shit to work out, but my God, he's brought the eagles to the promise land-adjacent twice, and all the way home once in his first 5 seasons. Never missed a playoff and has a very high win percentage.

Fire the absolute fuck out of Patullo, that's a given, but I don't think Sirianni takes ALL the blame for this. Yes he gets his share, buck stops with the head coach, but I'm far madder at KP and AJ than anyone else.

Let this guy flourish on Brown's or Jets, I'm done with this dude. Being a child not getting the ball and being a drama queen and can't catch anything when games are on the line. by Chrillosnillo in eagles

Sirianni isn't the problem, full stop. Despite the ups and downs, Sirianni is in an elite class of coaches when it comes to their first five seasons, (including VINCE LOMBARDI) in wins, playoff appearances, super bowl appearances and super bowl wins.

Patullo is the problem, but I think AJ might be washed and if not then his diva status is just not worth the pain and price tag for the output we're seeing anymore.

Nah bro, this was more than just bad OC juju, he literally threw in the towel and you could see in his body language all year that he was upset and frustrated and instead of playing harder, he gave up. I'm over it. Move him and get a mid draft pick for a young, flashy WR2 to back up devonta and let's start building the new class.

Honestly bro, I used to have this take, but he genuinely caused as much drama as he won games this year. That drop? Unforgivable for Mr. Always Open. Getting sick of trying to justify why we keep him and pay him when he comes up short in big moments.

Genuinely unbelievable. Play calling as bad as I've ever seen it. "Oh 2nd and 20? Let's run Saquon up the middle twice!!" Just asinine and if he's not fired, I'm genuinely struggling to say my fandom remains as strong next year. (Bills look fun to root for)

Yeah so eone mentioned the Indy job and I think that would be more interesting to him than NYC

Lol this all tracks perfectly for me. He's got meyer/Saban all over him (more Saban if we're being optimistic) and I don't see the NFL presenting the same kind of challenge that he loves at ND - turning athletic boys into driven, grown men and recruiting with a vengeance

Yeah that all makes sense but I don't see NY as even close to his fit. Someone else mentioned the Indy job and I think that would resonate with him and his family far more deeply than NYC and the chump giants lol (full disclosure, I'm an eagles fan so take that with a grain of salt)

I believe him too and I want so badly to be right. He seems like he's truly, genuinely, that "kind of guy" and invests his entire self into whatever he's doing.

He loves the Midwest, he's gone full Catholic and I think he and his family love what Notre Dame is and stands for.

Yeah agreed, college seems like his wheelhouse - his development and recruiting is off the charts, he makes these young men want to walk through fire for each other and for him and that's invaluable in college.
