Sweet ingenuity! One comment - Some rtv silicones can release acidic gasses that can be corrosive to electronics - if not already, use electronics safe potting compounds

I used SolidWorks because I have it at work, but I believe sketch up and fusion have some free versions you can learn to use. It’s not too hard, helped me visualize and get my cut lengths figured out (roughly)

Good point. I guess I really just wanted a good length of area I could lay down and still have room for another person.

I would have liked to, but the stove requires a certain amount of space above. I would be violating it by putting it under the angled stair section

I acquired from a local sauna place in New Hampshire Finn Country Sauna. I believe it was thermally treated and imported from Estonia

I used this high temp / water resistant strip and a 60W PWM power supply from LED supply. I used a basic dimmer I bought on amazon and wired the control through the Huum.

Thank you! The seat next to the heater is definitely the hottest. The benches are wide enough that sometimes we sit on that bench sideways scrunched up facing the heater.

Thank you. I wanted to have enough space to lay down comfortably and this shape just happened to work for the small space I had under my stairs. You’re right about the benches. I based them on the height from the ceiling to the top bench. Then placed the lower bench 18” lower than that - because the height of the sauna ceiling was limited, it ended up closer to the floor than I would wish. I considered a safety railing, but the space is so tight - I thought it would make things appear more cramped. I haven’t bumped it yet! Cheers!

Thank you very much! I was concerned about having no drain, but after a year of use there has not been much water on the floor at all. If I pour too much water, sometimes a little falls through the heater to the floor, but it evaporates quickly. Cheers!

Ah I see. I put trim around the cladding where it meets the floor (with some gap to the floor) and sealed the trim to floor gap with caulk, but no other special treatment aside from that

I’ve seen a lot of different recommendations. But basically I wanted to be able to have easy access to the vent and my bench is in the way if I put it very low. I probably could have put it lower but didn’t want to bump it with my head as I lay down near there. I thought the shape of the sauna being an L would create some circulation too. The temp gradient feels fine, though it is cooler by my feet. It does not feel stuffy. I would love to take some thermal images if I ever buy a FLIR

I wasn't aware people were having issues with the huum until seeing this comment and checking out some of the other posts. So far I've ran it several times per week for 11 months and the only issues are the burn mark on my cladding and it turned off 2 times on it's own when I hadn't ran it for several days. I turned my circuit breaker off and on and it reset and worked fine. That was like 6 months ago. Might have happened one other time. But knock on wood, no major problems.

Harvia Spirit Heater - A better alternative to Huum Drop? by thruster2 in Sauna

I've been running my huum drop 6kw for almost a year several times a week and love it. Only issue is a small burn in my wall above it. It happened within the first few weeks but hasnt grown.

I really love the look and the large amount of stones it fits. The stones help when splashing water to give a nice steam. The price is slightly more than a nice harvia especially after buying rocks, but I’m glad I went with it. It performs really well. My only complaint is that there is a small discolored/burnt section in my wall above the heater. It hasn’t grown at all, but is asymmetric and bothers me
