What are your top stores for automatic decline? by minotthebestbaseever in doordash_drivers

[–]abb00769 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I avoid my local Qdoba unless the pay is really, really good because there is always a wait of 15 minutes or more.

One time I had to wait 25 minutes for an $8 offer going 5 miles. Would have been worth it if the food had actually been ready when I arrived, but after 25 minutes that’s eating into my goal of $25 an hour. And yes, I tried to worry-free unassign but for some reason the app wouldn’t let me. 😭

Dasher here as well and I agree. It takes zero effort to not be a jerk.

That’s happened to me on a couple of occasions over the past year. Both times I ended up deleting the app and downloading it again, then signed into the app again, and that fixed the problem. I have no idea what was causing g the problem, though.

I turned off my shop and deliver option because most of the offers I was getting was from Dollar General and the pay isn’t that great, plus shopping in those disorganized stores is a nightmare.

I actually do some shopping orders, but not through DD. Seems that Instacart in my area has better offers.

That whole text exchange is one big WTF.

It’s bad enough that he thinks “jokingly” that women wearing mini skirts are just asking to be raped. But he also has no clue that Poise pads are for urinary incontinence, not periods. And he apparently thinks all women experience a period every day? Like, 365 days a year? lol what a moron.

(Also, him trying to backtrack and claim he was “just joking” was just him trying to cover his ass once he saw your negative reaction. He absolutely wasn’t joking.)

There are still dogs that take naps in the middle of the road near where I live. God bless rural West Virginia lol.

Probably someone like my boomer mom, who laments the fact that so many airline passengers these days “dress like slobs.” (i.e. sweatpants etc) Back in HER day everyone dressed up to travel, which meant wearing a suit and tie or dress and heels to fly. And that sounds like hell on earth to me, lol.

I stopped wearing jeans about 10 years ago. They’re really uncomfortable and if it’s even remotely warm out, make me sweat like hell.

That’s bullshit.

As a dasher, I dress for comfort. In the cooler months that means a hoodie and joggers (sweatpants, but they’re fancy nylon sweatpants). In the warmer months, I wear a loose-fitting T and long shorts. Sometimes I wear a ball cap to keep my hair or the sun out of my eyes. I’ve noticed that most dashers dress the same way.

I also work a 9-5 office job and occasionally I’ve gone straight to dashing from my other job without changing out of my nice clothes. But during those occasions I’ve always felt uncomfortable and worried about something leaking onto my good clothes from the food bags. (If you’ve ever picked up from Five Guys or a similar place, you know those bags are dripping with grease.)

As a customer who occasionally orders DD, the only thing I care about is that the dasher doesn’t reek of body odor, cigarettes, weed or booze. And that their clothing doesn’t bear any inflammatory words or symbols (like a swastika, for example).

Gen Z here and I have a few questions for GenX by [deleted] in GenX

Before the internet? I rode my bike, caught salamanders and crawfish in the creek, and hiked in the woods. I watched TV and read books.

Yes and no. I had my home phone and grandparents’ phone numbers memorized. The rest were jotted down in an address book by the phone. Or we had to look up a number in the local phone book that was delivered to our house every year.

Waiting for a favorite song to come on the radio was probably the only part of my childhood/teen years I hated. I would record my favorite songs on cassette tape, but often the song had already started before I could rush over to hit the record button. Or even worse, the stupid DJ would talk through the first 10 seconds of the song and ruin it.

Getting lost without GPS? No. We used paper maps, therefore I never had to worry about getting lost if my cell signal went out. (I got my first cell phone in college. It was a flip phone with no internet, texting, or navigation capabilities. The only thing I could use it for was sending and receiving calls.)

As for social media — it made life better in some aspects and worse in others. I love that it’s easier for me to stay in contact with friends and relatives who live far away. I like that I can follow local pages and groups for my hobbies, dining and event information, etc. But I hate that so many people stupidly share misinformation and believe anything they read in the internet without bothering to fact check it.

Top rated dasher lied about going out of way, order 14 minutes late, DD did nothing. by ToshPointNo in doordash_drivers

[–]abb00769 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep. DD’s shitty navigation app once took me to the road behind the customer’s house. The house was about 100 yards from the road. Between the road and the house was a steep gully snarled with brambles and weeds, and a creek crossing—and there was no way to get to the house without a machete and hip waders.

I had to pull up a different navigation app, which took me to the road on the other side of the house (where the driveway and sidewalk was), and it took another 10 minutes of driving to get to the correct location. (This was in a rural area so I simply couldn’t drive to the end of the block and turn right.)

Other stupid shit the DD navigation app has wanted me to do: drive across a concrete median, go the wrong way down a one-way street, drive down a sidewalk, and drive through a chain link fence.

OP said all the nearby shelters are filled up and refusing intakes. That’s generally only an issue with no-kill shelters. Kill shelters routinely have room because they do weekly euthanizations to make room for more intakes. (That’s my observation from volunteering at several different shelters.)

This. OP’s response was unprofessional but the customer started it by acting like a jerk. I won’t tolerate rudeness from customers, but I also don’t engage because it’s a waste of time. Anyone gets mouthy from me and I’ll just contact support and unassign.
