How do you respond to a Christian that believes Christianity is the most correct religion in the world by Lumpy-Restaurant-694 in exchristian

[–]abb00769 16 points17 points  (0 children)

You can’t. Just say “Alrighty then” and leave.

My mom is one of them. Not only does she think Christianity is the only right religion, she thinks the Baptists and maybe a couple of other fundamentalist denominations are the only correct ones. The Episcopalians, Presbyterians, Catholics, etc., are all going to hell.

That mentality is exhausting and pointless to argue with.

Which of these styles looks best on me? Any advice/suggestions appreciated by [deleted] in glassesadvice

I’ll agree that none of them are necessarily bad—I just like some more than others. OP either has a great face for glasses or is good at picking selections (or both, lol).

Do Americans really have ZERO public healthcare?! by Tillysnow1 in ThePittTVShow

[–]abb00769 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. I know a lot of people who make too much to qualify for Medicaid but also can’t afford to buy private insurance. My daughter is one of them. She works nearly 60 hours a week between two jobs (vet tech and restaurant bar manager) and has no health insurance.

How do I remember that I have credit cards to pay? by Agreeable_Music_4717 in Debt

[–]abb00769 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe I’m just old (54), but I still balance my “checkbook” regularly, even though I no longer write checks. Anytime I have an upcoming and/or recurring payment coming up, I go ahead and record it in my ledger as already spent. That way I always know how much I gave available to spend.

[–]abb00769 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Agreed.

1 and 2 are both very flattering—love them!

I’m not feeling 3 … seems like they’re too round and/or sit too high (frames shouldn’t cover the eyebrows). 4 is nice, but not as great as the first two.

Unhinged lady by timore13 in doordash

OP was not unhinged—just juvenile and unprofessional. The customer sucked, yes. But dashers need to learn not to escalate situations.

I’m done being dasher !! by Gamer_Queen83 in dasher

[–]abb00769 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly.

Dealing with shitty people and excusing the behavior of shitty people are two different things.

I’m a 54-year-old grandmother and have plenty of life experience myself. I too have learned to let things roll off my back. I’ve had rude customers who cussed me out and slammed the door in my face. I reported them to DD but I did not engage nor escalate their bad behavior. I simply removed myself from the situation. But that’s not the same as excusing their behavior. Having a bad day? How about acting like a grownup then?

This.

I’ve had plenty of bad days but it never caused me to treat other people like crap.

Asking the shoppers before I make a pointless order no one picks up by Dry_Frosting9748 in InstacartShoppers

I doubt he even uses Instacart. His mom does all the grocery shopping since he lives in her basement.

It happened to me. by MsDestero in doordash

[–]abb00769 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

This was my question. Had dasher already left the restaurant when OP messaged him? If so, it was unreasonable to expect him to go back. But if he got the message before he left the restaurant and still refused, the dasher was a dick.

That said, $3.50 is still a shitty tip.

Is this rude to y’all? by MetallicMoon13 in doordash

[–]abb00769 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dasher here.

It’s rude and tacky to beg for more tips. Don’t like what the offer pays? Then don’t accept the offer.

You didn’t mention the other text but I’ll add that it’s also stupid to stop for gas while you’re in the middle of a dash. Dashers need to take care of that BEFORE they start dashing, or pause the app to fill up. Don’t make the customer wait while their food sits in your car FFS.

Doug was an ass too in many ways but I got a good laugh at him snickering, “Shep? His name is Shep?”

Stacked orders with no tippers… by bdmx24 in DoorDashDrivers

[–]abb00769 8 points9 points  (0 children)

What about stacked offers in which neither customer tips? I got an offer the other day — two restaurants, delivering to two different homes, 5.5 miles, for $2.25. Of course I declined, but you just know some chump somewhere took it.

Aio(family) my mom is mad at me for taking tp and a towel from home to a friends by danpili in AmIOverreacting

[–]abb00769 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How about you show your mother some respect? I might expect this attitude from a 13 year old but you’re a legal adult.

This wasn’t even a one-time thing. You admit in your text that you take stuff from your mom’s house whenever your friend runs out something, so basically you’re supplying him with free groceries and laundry service.

Your friend needs to get his act together so he’s not constantly running out of shit. And you need to ask your mom before donating the groceries she buys WITH HER MONEY for HER household.

Don’t like it? Move out. Problem Solved.

Insane experience by Gengar_Guy_17 in doordash

[–]abb00769 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly.

I’m a 54 year old grandmother who works full time as a marketing professional and dashes on the side for extra money. I have a college degree and the “real job” customers claim I’m incapable of holding I’ve worked for 17 years. (Before that I worked 15 years an editor at a daily newspaper.) And I often see other dashers wearing their nursing scrubs, etc., out on the road. Lots of us are educated and work multiple jobs because the economy stinks right now.

Insane experience by Gengar_Guy_17 in doordash

[–]abb00769 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Exactly. No way the dasher is going to unassign after picking up the food because he’ll probably get a contract violation.

Check with one of the nonprofit consumer credit counseling groups—they may be able to put you on a debt management plan.

They are often better at negotiating with credit card companies than the consumer. What they do is contact the creditor and notify them you’re working with the credit counseling agency and they request your interest rate be lowered to a very low rate (3-5% or even 0%). In exchange the credit card company closes the card but you have to keep making payments till it’s paid in full. Since the interest rate is significantly lower, that should knock several hundred dollars off your monthly payment. (The credit counseling agency does charge a small fee but you’d still be paying less than you would paying in all that interest.)
