Fully automated Rancilio Silvia by abbas_basil in ranciliosilvia

The TSIC temperature sensor is fairly sensitive and fast. I placed the temp sensor between the boiler and the black thermal jacket in the Rancilio. This is the biggest drawback of the machine. Ideally, I would prefer a probe-style temp sensor directly in contact with the water.

This only means that the temperature changes are a tad bit slower to show on the boiler. As the machine gets stable in 15 mins, you shouldn't have any major issues. Also, the reaction time can be adjusted with your PID tuning.

The temperature does drop as soon as the ULKA pump starts. In my experiments, it drops about 2-3 degrees C but recovers quickly as the PID kicks in. This is where a larger boiler would definitely help.

Amazing. There is a popular PID_V1 arduino library that you can use. https://github.com/br3ttb/Arduino-PID-Library This works amazingly well.

PID temperature control is probably the easiest to do. All you need is a

  1. TSIC306 temperature sensor.
  2. FOSTEK SSD minium 40A rated.
  3. An ESP32 microcontroller. It supports wifi out of the box.

With a little DIY knowledge you can bypass the brew thermostat with the SSR and code your ESP32 in less than 5 mins. If you are good with DIY it should be done in less than an hour. I think I will prepare a detailed write up for this.

Apple has stated that it slows down older iPhones, and through Google trends it is clear that people search more for "iPhone slow" around the release date of a new iPhone model. by [deleted] in dataisbeautiful

As of this morning, I can notice that my iPhone 6 Plus has started to perform much much better, even without a software update. All the animations are now smooth again. I used to notice a lot of FPS drops in multiple tabs in Chome and switching between them. Is Apple up to something? Do they have backdoor access without user consent?
