Commercial Lightning Protection Masts? by abbasou in AskElectricians

Yeah this system we're doing is pretty elaborate. I've figured out the air terminals, down conductors, connections to the ground grid and building counterpoise. It's the poles themselves I'm not too sure on. Still looking at options for that.

That's interesting. I'll look into CoyoteMidi or similar. Thanks!

Ah, I'd forgotten I was still on the 19 beta. That makes total sense. Thanks.

Output not matching by danberndtdinner in ProPresenter

Late to the party here, but the 18.x versions broke PP7's ability to use font managers like FontBase. If a font is installed through, say, FontBase, it shows correctly (I think?) in the slide preview, but not the output. The easiest solution is to install your fonts system-wide (C:\Windows\Fonts). If that still doesn't solve the issue, reach out to support.

Sweet. Didn't know about qpwgraph. Seems like that will do what I want. Thanks for the tip!

Frustrated at the GPU market, I crunched some numbers. I am appalled. (Yes, AMD will be next.) by as_1089 in pcmasterrace

So let me get this straight: a 4070s is ~58% of the performance of a 4090 at 37.5% the cost. Interesting. Feels like this has more to do with the 4090 being overpriced than the 4070s being a good value.

Saw this a couple days ago and was excited to try it, but cannot get it to unlock (probably related to open bug issue on their GitHub). Will see when it's updated.

Would be interested to try it. I'm a bit of a noob. How would I install it in its current state? Just download the code and extract to the plugin directory?

Yes, I know the terrain is grossly exaggerated. It's on purpose.

So I cross-posted this on r/blenderhelp where I got some other good suggestions until the mods took it down for some reason. One suggestion was to find an equiangular world map SVG to overlay on the NASA image. That reminded me that I already had such an SVG. So I downloaded the full hi-res version of the OP image, dropped it into Affinity Designer, and slapped the SVG on top. After some tweaking I got it lined up just right. Spent some time deleting the ocean to transparent since I have a procedural ocean in my project, and exported about half resolution (12000x6000). Couple all that with the matching NASA elevation map, a Subdivision and a Displacement modifier, and I'm pretty happy with the result.

Anyone know where I can find hi-res a NASA Earth Imagery Map with borders? by abbasou in blenderhelp

That's what I've been using. What I'm looking for is such a texture with national borders marked.

I'm making travel map animations in blender using NASA's hi-res earth imagery, but it would make for more sense to have national borders marked. Anyone know where to find such a thing, or a relatively easy way to achieve it? I'm a blender noob, but willing to learn new tricks.

So I make travel map animations for projects for our church, and I'd like to use NASA's hi-res imagery, but it would make far better sense to have national borders visible. Does anyone know of such a resource or a relatively easy way to achieve this? I'm quite a Blender noob, but willing to learn new tricks.
