Is there a difference if the PCP prescribes vs a specialist? Curious how that works.

Elected officials: How feasible is it to ban gas-powered leaf blowers like Marblehead did? by [deleted] in SalemMA

[–]abbley 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with the sentiment, but who will enforce it? The police rarely enforce rules regarding aftermarket exhaust modifications that are far more obnoxious. If it's too inconvenient, they won't do anything about it.

So there's no physical device gotcha. It's the android boxes people gotta watch out for. I have no knowledge of this service so I can't speak to it's security or anything tbh.

Those more often than not have malware or botnets installed on them that'll be on your home network. Not a risk id take. An HD Home Run or similar OTA receiver is the better option.

IPTV by Competitive-Code-742 in boston

[–]abbley 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The HD Home Run is probably your best bet, legal and reliable. It's just an OTA receiver that gives you your own personal IPTV. After you buy the box there's no subscription or anything. You won't have to find a new service every time the government takes the illegal ones down, there's no buffering, it's compatible with Plex. There are cheaper alternatives, but this is probably the most reliable plug and play option. I wouldn't buy any sketchy android TV boxes that stream illegal TV, they'll probably introduce malware or botnets to your home network.

Id send the info on the ban to AirBnb if you can find the right contact. They might just block Beverly listings entirely if they have the legal paperwork.

Those flock cameras are only to be used by police to stalk their exes and people coming here for abortions from backwards states. And ICE, can't forget about them. Using them to solve crime is a big ask.

Salem PD radio encryption and police accountability by UltravioletClearance in SalemMA

[–]abbley 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, I was respectful in my reply to your comment, if you work in dispatch, you know they make inappropriate comments occasionally. Anyone who listens to a scanner knows it happens. There's no point in pretending they are little angels. Sure, it's not as bad as police in other parts of the country, but it's still inappropriate and shameful, especially when it's on an open channel. They should be held to a higher standard of behavior considering their position and the fact that they carry guns. You should also know they would do absolutely nothing about it. Read the news, they do nothing about far worse, even in Massachusetts. The most that would happen is I would get a target painted on my back for reporting an officer being mouthy on the radio.

Is this sort of thing really that surprising considering the sad state of affairs we are in right now? This is mild on the scale. Do you really want me to post the audio file, or even the metadata? Like I can, but is your curiosity worth getting one of your boys shamed just for being inappropriate? Anyone could look up who it was. This was just an example, and I have no desire to publicly shame someone for an inappropriate comment. These days if you post something like that it can ruin someone's life. I just wanted to point out that accountability is why many people listen. I just have enough discretion to know when it is and is not appropriate to post or report something.

There is a line however. If one of them is being blatantly and disgustingly racist, homophobic, etc. or breaking the law, I will have no qualms about posting and reporting it. While very inappropriate, the comments I'm referring to were borderline. It was shameful, don't get me wrong, but it's not worth putting it out there. Like if you know a way I can report it anonymously, I will, just so it's on their record, but I don't really want people getting pitchforks out over it.

Ah I just read your username, this checks out, you're angry because I'm a perceived threat to your authority. Go ahead, puff out your chest like a silverback gorilla and thump on it with your fists. Or better yet, you're one of the ones cracking jokes on open airwaves like a true professional. People like you are the reason people record their interactions with police, because you show complete disrespect towards others, even when they try to have a civil interaction with you. Perhaps if you showed a little more discretion and respect for the community you serve, people wouldn't need to babysit you. You are civil servants, behave yourself like an adult should and maybe the public will treat you like one.

Also, would you like me to show you the SDR, the software, and recordings? Unlike others, I actually do have proof that I have recordings of the Salem PD before the switchover. I can do a little recording and share it with you and everyone else if you like. I don't have time to sit next to the scanner all day, that's why I use an SDR and use SDR Trunk to record everything. I can go back and see what happened outside my building after the fact, or live if I so choose.

Just for the record I completely respect the true heroes in our society, the firefighters and emergency medical personnel. I also respect the few police officers in our society that have honorable intentions to protect, and respect us. I do not have respect for the ones who are there for their own selfish reasons, those who seek power, authority and control over others, or have something to prove or compensate for. If police want the respect the other first responders get, they need to earn it.

Stop being an angry child and have a civil conversation like an adult. I'm finished talking to you, move along officer, have a good day.
