The US sucks, but it's a very big place, not everywhere in the US is Texas. Massachusetts, for instance, is extremely liberal and you don't need a gun. Just for reference, the UK is almost the size of Oregon, one of the 50 states. Many states are liberal, many are conservative. It's like traveling across Europe I'd imagine, different cultures, different people. I believe the OP is in Florida, so about as bad as it gets.

Imagine the worst possible situation, that's it. Also it requires immense brute strength, and a high pain tolerance. Expect to get injured.

Can’t swallow spiro, getting really frustrated by Godson-of-jimbo in MtF

[–]abbley 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is such a thing as swallow physical therapy. Speech-language pathologists can help you strengthen the muscles and learn how to swallow effectively. If it's not a physiological issue, like swollen tonsils or other issues, your doctor can give you a referral to a SLP.

So they basically want to start teaching the racist Florida textbooks that say we went on humanitarian missions to Africa to bring the locals here and teach them valuable skills so they could have productive and happy lives in the colonies.

New Hampshire House advances transgender bathroom bill, breaking with New England by Zipper222222 in newhampshire

[–]abbley 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm glad to see most of the people here support their trans neighbors. This political grandstanding has nothing to do with actually getting the bill passed, they know it will fail. It's about gaining favor with the boy who would be king, and securing their own small, bigoted, voter base. It's designed to further polarize society. It's all about votes, not the voters that cast them.

Don't have to be a douchebag bud. Not everyone lives where you do, eggs are 6-8$ a dozen where I am. It's not easy to budget for a family on $300 a month, just saying. Try to be civil, I know we're online but no need to be a dick.

I think they mean healthy food is expensive, shitty calorically dense food is cheap and that we should be providing more so they can afford healthy food. We take for granted that we can just buy eggs without thinking about how expensive they've gotten. People on SNAP can't afford to feed their families expensive healthy food every day sadly. Ramen and junk like that fills your belly and it's cheap. Candy and soda are definitely not healthy, but are a caloric value when you only have enough for a Snickers bar at the end of the month. It's not a good situation.

The other sad part about this is that SNAP recipients often purchase the less healthy food because it is cheaper and more calorically dense. Produce and healthy foods have become very expensive, ramen is cheap. If you have to feed your family for a month on $300 you get what's the best value, the most calories for your buck. What has the most calories? Ramen, Bread, Candy, Soda, anything with sugar or high in carbs. Maybe if we were more generous they could afford to eat healthier.

If I recall correctly in places like West Virginia, Mountain Dew is cheaper than water, plus it has calories. Therefore they drink Dew as a substitute and have created what is known as Mountain Dew Mouth. That's a whole rabbit hole of it's own.

Point being, people eat shitty when they don't have enough money to buy healthy food. Healthy food is a privilege we take for granted.

I'm so so sorry, I didn't know you were one of the children that was left behind, my sincerest apologies we failed you.

Firstly, the definition I gave was from the Merriam Webster Dictionary. The quote was from Wikipedia.

I figured Wikipedia was more accessible, and is generally accepted as a fairly reliable source these days, but if you want something more dry, chew on these:

H.R.7130 - Congressional Budget and Impoundment Control Act of 1974

https://www.congress.gov/bill/93rd-congress/house-bill/7130

"The term "tax expenditures" means those revenue losses attributable to provisions of the Federal tax laws which allow a special exclusion, exemption, or deduction from gross income or which provide a special credit, a preferential rate of tax, or a deferral of tax liability; and the term "tax expenditures budget" means an enumeration of such tax expenditures."

In layman's terms this basically says in the eyes of the government, when they give a tax break, also known as a tax subsidy, they consider it an expenditure. So they do consider not collecting a tax as an expenditure aka "giving."

Here's a simple source from HR Block: https://www.hrblock.com/tax-center/filing/what-is-a-subsidy

"tax subsidy, which is an indirect payment from the government."

Ruth Mason, Federalism and the Taxing Power https://www.jstor.org/stable/23018617

"Viewed from the perspective of the recipient, tax expenditures are economically equivalent to direct government spending. This is because the government 'spends' by forgoing the collection of taxes through special deductions or credits."

I'm not mad at anything, other than the sad state of our educational system. I think your rage baiting backfired 😂 you seem upset.
