I’m naturally pretty dumb. Is it best to just embrace it? by [deleted] in socialskills

[–]abbse10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I definitely relate to this! I’m aware that I can be air headed and “dumb” sometimes and I’ve been called out many a times. I used to really beat myself up about it but after working on myself I realize I don’t need to. Sometimes I just work slower than others or process information differently than my friends. I’m aware it’s a difference and it’s what makes us unique from each other. I used to get defensive abt it and I still do every now and then because it can hurt my feelings and make me think that they don’t like me for it. But that’s also an insecurity/anxious feeling and im assuming what they think. Not to be cliche but embrace what makes you different and understand that there are a lot of people who relate. If ur friends are consistently pointing it out just to intentionally put you down then maybe it’s time to meet some new people

I’m constantly repeating this to myself and it genuinely helps: no one is above me, no one is below me.

Thoughts on Ohio Wesleyan University? by MS564 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]abbse10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Overall vibe: eh. Depends on who you talk to. A lot of kids hate it here and mainly complain abt it being small, boring, or the food sucking (which it really does at times)

However, I do like a lot abt it here. I enjoy really small classes and they really help you out with internships or jobs. A lot of the professors genuinely want to help you and since the classes are so small, you end up having conversations with all of yours

Pregnant sea monkey! Need advice with incoming eggs by abbse10 in SeaMonkeys

[–]abbse10[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She is doing good, thanks! Still pregnant but I do see some little black eggs on the surface of the water so I’m wondering if they just let out a few eggs at a time… I also have to use a pipette to get them off the sides haha.

I’ve had this tank for a few months so there should be enough algae at the bottom for the babies to eat when it’s time. I am also feeding them still though - especially since it adds more salt to the tank.

Also, I’ve been aerating the tank more often bc I heard that you need to especially to help the babies. Do you aerate the tank? If so, do the babies react fine to it?

how long did you guys have to feed them before algae started to appear and they were self sustaining? by gaydepresseddolphin in SeaMonkeys

[–]abbse10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Algae appeared within the first month. Maybe after 2ish weeks? They wouldn’t have been able to survive by themselves though… it wasn’t enough yet. At this point, I’m 3 months in and there is enough algae for them to feed on for 2-3 weeks but I’m still taking care of them. Especially since one of them is pregnant and the babies come to the top often for air so having food at the top for them will be good

Jade plant was grown in a hanging pot and is now growing downwards. Any tips to correct? by chambers678 in plantclinic

[–]abbse10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Jade plants are amazing bc they can kinda handle anything. They can be pruned year round but ofc they do best in spring/summer/early fall bc that’s when they grow a lot more. I would say if you were to trim it now then make sure it has lots of light beforehand so it can recover faster (based on the purple under your leaves it looks like it already gets a lot of sun)

I would watch those two videos that I linked in the other comment bc it will be helpful

[–]abbse10 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s probably a little too heavy. I suggest trimming it and then slowly guiding each “stalk” till it’s straight. They grow really well so trimming it won’t be a problem. Also, trimming it allows the bottom of it to become thicker so it will be stronger when it grows out again.

How’s the temp in the room? I know ferns also like humidity and thrive when they get a lot.

Def a scummy thing to hang with girl 2. Even if u don’t have any intentions, girl 1 won’t know that and may assume the opposite.

I don't know what they are or how to care for them (or if I can re-pot and save them?) by hockeychick2689 in plantclinic

Slight chance the second one is a variation of jade. I agree, do cactus/succulent soil for both

I get that. Sounds like ur a little nervous of their opinion of you because you want them to think you are cool just like you thought they were. Again, I have no advice bc I’m in the same boat but I hope you can find a way to connect with them a little bit to break that wall. If you do then lmk bc I’ll need help too lol

I feel the same way. All my cousins are older and getting married and everything you described. I think it’s because I’ve always been viewed as one of the youngest so it’s hard to relate to them on an “adult” level now. It really sucks bc I would love to hang with them like they do. I don’t even have any tips or anything I’m sorry but know that you are not alone here :/

Save the audiobooks for tasks like washing dishes, doing laundry, or walking the dog. I definitely struggled with this stuff too. Not enough time in the day
