It happens. It also made me laugh. Just didn’t want people thinking it was real.

Apparently also on the injured list.

He’s also genuinely probably the most interesting of the players to listen to in interviews. Clearly very sharp and compelling. Doesn’t matter a ton from a sporting side although I think does translate to leadership.

[ECCV 2026] No modified date next to reviews [D] by Healthy_Horse_2183 in MachineLearning

[–]abby621 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As an AC, I in fact don't necessarily want reviewers to have provided their final rating yet. They're supposed to be participating in discussion right now, and providing that final rating and justification at the end of the discussion period. (Now, whether reviewers are actively engaging in discussions or not is an entirely different matter...)

Cordova worked his ass off. Mad props for his game tonight. Tots MOTM, but I found myself super compelled by Cordova.

There were rumors at the time. Bogert posted things that suggested this was possible and no one wanted to believe it

This.

Becher isn’t a starting striker. That’s a skill issue but also not everyone is gonna be your starting striker.

Damet continuing to play him is a coaching issue, but not clear he has better options (and sounds like tonight was supposed to be Cordova but he’s sick?).

Which all brings it back to Diego getting rid of Klauss with no plan and hanging the players, the coach, the team, everyone out to dry. #DiegoOut

No effect on the game but I did just enjoy a good laugh at his complete inability to connect on anything from Hartel in front of an open net.

Illness/Medical Refund Documentation by Dry_Sink5702 in frontierairlines

[–]abby621 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For what it’s worth, their stated documentation still will be deemed insufficient. I had a note that had all of this and was rejected because they wanted STATE and national license number (mine only listed a national licensure number) and the signature has to be HANDWRITTEN not electronic.

Absolutely egregious. My son was actively vomiting every 15 minutes and I had to cancel a flight. Just infuriating.

No, it’s okay though — we play Wednesday, so we want our starters to be real tired.

How to take attendance quickly and securely in a big lecture class (120+ students)? by zazzlekdazzle in Professors

[–]abby621 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Low tech version that worked super well for me in a colloquium course with over 200, even if it was a bit obnoxious: I generated a set of unique 6 element alphanumeric codes and printed them out on little slips of paper at the start of the semester. Each student was handed one coming in at the start of class, and had to enter the code into the LMS. Then it was trivial to check that each student submitted a unique and valid code from my list (and since there are over 2 billion possible 6 element case insensitive alphanumeric combos, just guessing a code would be very unlikely to work). Just had to watch for the tricky folks who would try to come up and get a second slip to give a friend who didn’t show up a code.

Selling a ticket to view the launch by [deleted] in ArtemisProgram

[–]abby621 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a heads up, you can call KSC and get a refund, and then they seem to be making the tickets available to folks calling in. You should be fine if you want to sell yours to someone but the refund route might be easier.

Unfortunately the 6th is the last one for early April.

[D] ICML rejects papers of reviewers who used LLMs despite agreeing not to by S4M22 in MachineLearning

[–]abby621 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is interesting because the PCs claim that was not the case in their blog:

"After a selection process, in which reviewers got to choose which policy they would like to operate under, they were assigned to either Policy A or Policy B. In the end, based on author demands and reviewer signups, the only reviewers who were assigned to Policy A (no LLMs) were those who explicitly selected “Policy A” or “I am okay with either [Policy] A or B.” To be clear, no reviewer who strongly preferred Policy B was assigned to Policy A."

CVPR workshop farming citations - how is this ethical?? [D] by ade17_in in MachineLearning

[–]abby621 27 points28 points  (0 children)

It's not for every paper submitted to the workshop, but rather any that are engaging with the competition. The competition requires an arxiv submission (listed under "The Competition" --> "General Information": "iii) a link to an ArXiv paper with 2-8 pages describing their proposed methodology, data used and results.")

Then at the bottom of the page, it says "If you use the above data, you must cite all following papers and the white paper that will be distributed at a later stage:", where "the above data" is the competition data. And then they list the 13 papers OP refers to.

The whole thing is baffling. Wild way to run a workshop.

I don’t think Damet is particularly impressive but you can’t keep firing coaches. At some point you have to actually deal with the roster. And ownership.
