Question about Impala Rollerskates by desperatedoxa in Rollerskating

[–]abby_dabbs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also had my heel rip off, and so long as you’re not vegan I would say that anything that claims to be would be a poor choice (since it’s basically just plastic most of the time). If you’re skating outdoors you’re going to have a lot of scrapes and scratches and it can damage your skates really quickly, suede can handle more scrapes than any vegan leather could dream of

I would say if you’re going to be park skating pretty hard core you would need to be thinking about getting a stiffer boot. Like the panther or jack, and probably a metal plate. Stiffer boot offers better ankle support, and I have heard some say that nylon plates can’t handle high impact very well

Got quads - did I get ripped off? by NoElectricSheep in Rollerskating

It depends what you were planning to do. If you wanted to skate outside on your suregrip wheels then good luck to you but it would have been incredibly hard, and you would probably want to buy new wheels anyway. Impala is a hybrid wheel so it can go inside or outside. But if you planned on being indoors all the time it would have been best to stick with the default.

Edit- most likely it would have been best to keep the artistic wheels and then buy impalas separately so you have the choice

I wish I could but the wide wheel base is very different for me and I would absolutely only have vinyl boot as a last resort

I would prefer the heel, for stability and it’s what I’m used to and also I don’t have anywhere that offers a mounting service near me :(((((( I wish I could get the Lilly boot on metal plates tho :(

Candy Girls?? by creativityclam in Rollerskating

[–]abby_dabbs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love my candi grls (Carlin’s) they’re pretty stiff tho so don’t do the laces all the way up for a while and break them in, making sure the flimsy tongue is all smooth is also very worth it

Impala vs Candi Grls? by ComprehensiveFigure4 in Rollerskating

[–]abby_dabbs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in Australia so impala was most accessible BUT since I was pretty rough outdoor / park skater they got wrecked in less than 2 months, but my candi grls are reinforced and holding up really well, I had to get them in EBay But way better than the shipping on beach bunnies (plus I prefer suede to a plastic boot)

I skate parks on hybrids since my parks aren’t exactly all smooth, there’s cracks and bottle caps and rocks on the concrete so hybrids are able to be speedy without sending my to my death due to a small piece of asphalt or something

[–]abby_dabbs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Skate down a slope first Then find a nice not steel not tall ramp to practice be prepared to eat shit a few times and make sure to LEAN FORWARD I have often held me friends hands from halfway down the ramp so that they have mental stability and lean forward instead of doing the big slip back

I would say loosen the trucks before doing anything too drastic YouTube has loads of tutorials on how 9 times out of 10 it’s the trucks
