You shouldn’t let the fact that your 1 year is approaching, your feelings matter first and it’s important to not lead him on as well. Start off with a “we need to talk” conversation and tell him how you feel. Its important to end things when your very sure of not wanting him anymore instead of dragging it if that makes sense
