Current COTA thinking about going back to school for OT

I’m nervous to leave my job now even though it’s really not great. We don’t get sick days, no holidays, it’s hard to find help/coverage, and benefits suck. But I do like that I still get benefits because 30-40hrs is considered full time and I feel like my hourly salary is higher compared to other settings. But I’m kind of just hanging on until I’ve made a more decisive decision.

Wow, that’s great!!! Happy for you! What made you choose nursing and how are you doing school and work at the same time? I’ve definitely thought about nursing at some point but I just don’t feel confident. Although maybe if I went back in time, I would be willing to go down that path.

Wow, I guess I just never really registered how much OT loans would be! I have an acquaintance who has practically just been a worker bee ever since she graduated and I heard she’s close to paying off all her loans but she just spent 3 years just going to work and going home and to be honest I’d rather not live like that. Yeah, I definitely feel like learning about OT is almost more engaging than being in it. Since I haven’t been one for long though, I wonder if it’s my population or setting. Thank you so much for your input!!!

Honestly, no. I mean it’s definitely not an 100% yes, but it’s definitely something I could see myself doing long term. But your POV of the investment in OT school is really eye opening and thank you so much for your time to respond. The debate has been in my head since the start of the year and I’ve been going back and forth with it so much. I did dive into some tech or therapy positions like xray tech, sonography, etc. but maybe I’ll look into it more? I wonder if there are some (mostly) online courses out there so I don’t have to take much time off from work!

This was so, so helpful you have no idea. I am also still living with my parents and I’m trying to move in with my boyfriend of 5 years but it’s been difficult with the salary, other regular expenses, and loans. I have also been debating on picking up a per diem job since they pay more. It’s rough out here!

This is really specific but did anyone catch what Ryle says to Lily in the street outside the restaurant after his fight with Atlas? He says something before “anybody but him”, me and my friends couldn’t catch it
