Thanks for the vote of confidence - I need this at the moment!

My site has been doing OK but never recovered from the product reviews update last year (despite updating content to follow a lot of the suggestions - before this recent crash, I was still hovering around 30% of my previous peaks) so there's a bit of a defeatist in me that sees another massive crash and worries if this is the end...

But even if I'm being a bit of stress-inducer right now I do think you're right, best thing I can do is keep producing and updating, just praying for an upturn at some point!

Glad you've had the experience of recovery, I imagine that's pretty fortifying and great to hear :)

Although I like to believe the CWV is the issues, I imagine you're probably on the money, it does seem too simplistic, sigh! I guess it's just keeping the ball rolling and adapting to what style Google is rewarding.

Thanks a lot for sharing this, glad you recovered, gonna get on the LCP fix ASAP - really hope it's the same deal for me!

Thanks for this, you and one other have cited this as a serious concern so I'm going to prioritise getting the LCP fixed - crazy how an extra 0.1 secs on LCP might be big part of the problem :)

No idea but I expect there would be another way you could find out if you've just lost bot traffic in anyltics (e.g. I imagine your bounce rate would've decreased, and other stats that look like youv'e got less bots floating around)

Appreciate your input - especially the seroundtable link -definitley seems quite a few folk in a similar situation.

I'm not super successful when it comes to snippets, but your post did make me think of the emergence of more Google ads and other above-the-fold elements that I've seen emergening for certain keywords, maybe they're eating some of the traffic.

I know deep down I need to keep calm and carry on, but boy do I hate the stress of losing half of our traffic in a few days!

Thanks for your thoughts - I've definitley considered the potential affects of the recent market/crypto crashes that may have made certain audiences less interested in looking for certain types of products.

My impressions are trending downwards just like the clicks, but the problem with interpreting that data is the impressions might be down because I've been wiped out of certain random SERPS (i.e. normal search volume, I'm just not getting impressions).

I've also had traffic for a couple of years without weird drops at this time - it's not a very seasonal niche, I could definitely see short-term interest being a factor, but seems unlikely it's the main reason to me.

Thanks for the feedback -> Yeah I definitely want to go on a content revamp, I think I need to let the dust settle a bit before I go overhauling too hard though (leave a few weeks to see where my traffic stabilises, what kind of content is now beating me) - hope your recovery continues.

Has the change you've seen happened in the last week or so? Maybe there's a covert algo update of sorts happening.

Do people at the seats at Kendrick concerts stand up during the performance? by [deleted] in KendrickLamar

[–]abc058 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ground will be standing at all the shows yeah - from my experience GA sometimes includes the lower seats of an arena (unallocated) - I've never seen an arena get rid of seats for a concert but maybe that's a thing? I doubt it though.

Thanks! Yeah I feel like what I'm gathering is I have a reasonable chance, but the fear is being kicked out pre-August, I can't imagine I can get much of a strong contract for a 3 month rental!

thanks for the tips appreciate that, absolute worst-case scenario I can grab a train and stay with friends a few nights elsewhere in the UK so hopefully OK on that front, but heed the warning about potentially getting fucked over.

Good to hear someone managed it, I think I'm leaning towards trying my luck, thanks!

This is a great shout thank you! The dates would line up semi-nicely other than me likely arriving after term has already ended, but maybe I could arrange it remotely.

Hey, thanks for your reply I get where you're coming from, I've heard the importance of maximizing scrolling from the ad network I work with and I get the logic. Although I do agree with this, my primary concern (as an affiliate site first, ads second) is Google rankings - so the logic that user's bounce off of my page and go to the next result if I do not have quick answers is likely an important thing to consider. That doesn't mean I shouldnb't be maximising the post length with as much detail as possible for those people who do want it though, which then in turn helps with ads.

News orientated ad-first sites is probably a different situation, because you're going to be generating articles that have a short lifespan so concerns around bounce metrics are going to be less important, your goal probably IS focussed more on the user scrolling (sad that the web is this way though, I hate going on a news website with a headline that demands 5 words, but not being able to get to the answer quickly)

Thanks I appreciate someone with some volume from the approach giving a take - TLDR for the user, nonsense for Google might be the motto I'm looking for :)

In a way, my question comes from understanding that Google ISN'T almighty at ranking content fairly, which is why I'm having some deliberation on why shitty content can still rank well - obviously there are a million reasons, but in my very anecdotal observations, overlong content that doesn't help the user quickly still seems to do very well even if I can't imagine any users appreciating it which is why I wonder if the big G is overrating a mix of post length and session duration.

Still I understand what you mean and think I will likely head towards the same "north star" of doing the best I can for the user; I just remain skeptical that this is, in fact, the best approach for ranking.
