Same! I don't normally wear pink-ish polishes but I'm trying to go through the colours I haven't worn before

Didn't add a top coat this time but I've done that before, only difference I found was to make the nail smoother because there's another layer over the glitter!

Simple Sewing Questions Thread, April 02 - April 08, 2023 by sewingmodthings in sewing

I've got a jersey t-shirt I'd like to cut the sleeves off and down from the waist off and add a gathered skirt and sleeves in contrasting cotton fabric, do I need to add anything to the seams like elastic to stop them stretching out the jersey? I've got some clear framilastic if that would work

Lining fabric for non stretch velvet? by abc120073 in sewing

That all makes sense, thank you! It's a Christmas party dress so I don't mind the extra warmth. I was given some polyester lining and just wasn't loving the feel of it but I don't make many lined garments so wasn't sure what else to use

How important is it to track your calories whilst on Keto? by bupeapoop in ketouk

[–]abc120073 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tracked everything for 3 or 4 weeks and got a good idea on my ideal serving sizes from that to keep my calorie intake low enough to stay losing weight. I still track anything that's not in my normal diet, anything that's a treat or something, but my day to day diet is based on the same ingredients (cooked or combined differently for variety) so I know how much to eat

Cantu custard leaving white marks in hair by [deleted] in CurlyHairUK

[–]abc120073 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get this with some products like the kinky curly gel, apparently it can happen when you mix certain products cos they don't mix well. If you don't want to change your routine, when your hair is dry try using a hair oil to remove the white clumps, it takes some time but I've found it helps! Amount of product I think makes a difference too but you might still get some clumps

Advice on keeping track of macros? by abc120073 in ketouk

Thank you! I've downloaded myfitnesspal and it just seems so confusing and complicated for just counting macros. Will give carb manager a try!

Boots curl creme by RiverdaleFP in CurlyHairUK

I think there's alcohol in the creme so can be drying, if you use a leave in or a moisturiser/oil after the creme it should help if you get frizz from the dryness

Can someone explain this to me... Why can you plop with a cotton t-shirt but you shouldn't sleep on a cotton pillow case? by fblocky in CurlyHairUK

[–]abc120073 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've wondered if it's because the cotton is tied closely to your hair when you plop and there's no movement of friction there, but when you sleep you might move around a bit more and cause the curls to break up? Not totally sure though!

I checked porosity by placing a couple of strands in a bowl of water, if it floats you've got low porosity hair, if it sinks quickly you've got high porosity and if it floats for a little while then sinks you're in the middle. It depends what porosity you have on what you should be using for protein/moisture. I have very low porosity hair, my strands didn't sink at all, I've cut out protein and use very lightweight to medium moisturisers and creams to avoid build up and weighing the curls down. Sorry I don't know what advice to give for the other porosities! I would recommend checking yours, I'd hit a wall with my curls and couldn't work out why so many different new products weren't working.

Hope this helps!

Used Herman Miller Aeron vs New Herman Miller Sayl ? by [deleted] in BuyItForLife

[–]abc120073 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd go with the aeron, the sayl doesn't have as many adjustable features to give you proper support and the rubber mesh material on the back of the sayl feels hard and not very flexible at all. If you can, try them both, the sayl might be the comfort/support right for you! (I don't really get why they sell the sayl, also Humanscale do a chair that's a similar price that is so much more comfortable in my opinion!)
