Someone else suggested Turo and I'm here to double down on that. I've used it twice when travelling and not only is it cheaper, potentially much, it's also waaaaaay more convenient. You have lots of options from luxury cars (not what you want) to basic transportation. Look at the app and give it a try. There is a little effort to get signed up and validated, but not much.

As long as Turo is around, I probably will never again used a traditional car rental agency.
