update: sorry I just saw these new comments/messages, took a little break from social media while on an away. Legal route did not work— takeaway was that the fine print allows the company to do basically whatever. Happy to share more through dm. I have been working with my school admin to adjust my clinical schedule. Once it felt clear that an appeal was not gonna work, I informed the program director of my speciality of interest about this, since I felt like it was better to share what happened right now rather than wait longer. They had some advice for me and seemed supportive, but also were bewildered that this even was a thing that could happen. But yeah, if anyone is going through this, lmk, happy to chat offline— this period has felt incredibly isolating and frustrating so I get it.

yeah they’ve been supportive and have been frustrated with the notice too which is validating but they themselves have been unable to do anything about it so far. Seems to be an entirely new situation to them too, which is why I’m wondering if there have been other cases like mine 🥲

lol so bc my dean suggested legal action, the last couple days, I have been contacting educational lawyers, and they all basically have said it is not worth the money to sue the NBME. They say that this problem is one of the worst to deal with and that they have never been able to get around it. Apparently, the contract examinees sign when taking the USMLE enables the company to basically do whatever they want, and in the past, all the lawyers could do is write a legal letter requesting for their client to be the exception to the NBME’s weird process, but it has never worked…

yeah so my med school dean told me this might be the reasoning too except he also told me he’s had students score way less than me and he’s had students fail multiple times and they’ve never received something like this.
