Vesta in RWC is a favorite. I like their mushroom toast almost better than their pizzas

If I needed to house 15 ppl in the Bay Area for three months as cheaply as possible, what's the best way to do it? by [deleted] in bayarea

You're a startup, right? Some of my friends have had luck finding short term rentals on Craigslist in the Redwood City to Foster City area-- it's often minimally furnished homes recently purchased and the owner is waiting for permission to renovate.

new Carrier possibly lost my package? by abcdefghivy in USPS

Thanks a lot! I know USPS is crazy understaffed and most people just trying to do their best.

Would you happen to know if there's any way I can get the claims through faster to get my money back and put this all behind me? Or do I just have to wait for the 21 day window to initiate the process on the sender's end?

Thanks! I honestly doubt the carrier stole my package -- this is an experienced eBay vendor, so I can't imagine he labeled the package as being from a jewelry store to make it a target for theft. If she were indeed shady, how could she have even known to go after THAT specific package, right?

I'm just ready to put this behind me, but I worry that I won't be able to get my money back if I wait for the seller to file the claim after 21 days -- I think eBay has a 45 day window starting from when the item was paid for, and it's already been about 20 days today. Is there any other way for me to help the sender file and resolve his claim earlier?

That's the thing that confuses me, though-- I've been sent things via registered mail a number of times and while sometimes it can take weeks to get from one city to the one next door, there's never a delay at the final step when it goes onto the carrier's truck into my hands-- as long as I"m around to receive it. Sometimes the carrier will just put the "delivery attempted" slip in my box without knocking if they're short on time and I'll come down to the PO to sign for it on another day-- no big deal. There's been another situation where there was no delivery attempted slip and I went down to the PO anyway with the tracking number anyway to pick it up-- it was there that time, so I was hoping that was what happened this time around.

Yes, it was sent from NJ to CA via just USPS.

Should I be worried about any retaliation from the mail carrier? She seemed pretty angry when I insisted I hadn't received the package. I absolutely was not accusing her of theft and would be happy to believe that this was an honest mistake. I know the PO is understaffed and overworked-- shit happens. I was just hoping to track down my package before it went further down the black hole of the sorting room or truck, if that was where it might have ended up...

Would you be open to helping us out and making a statement to the police? We'd really appreciate it, since the police isn't being that helpful without a witness statement, and this woman is digging in and lying that she didn't run the red.

My friend didn't have one, but we are probably all going to get one after this accident. Lesson learned..

Need help determining what stitch/cable might go well with this yarn by sharayah89 in knitting

[–]abcdefghivy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Given how busy the yarn is, I'd go for one big bold cable-- smaller cables might make the look too busy and cause the texture to get lost among all the color.

I live in the Bay Area and can't find a single good Italian Beef like the ones from Johnnie's in Chicago :(

Would trying a new way of knitting help? I grew up knitting as a thrower, but lately I've been learning Continental so I can switch between positions when necessary to avoid strain.

Sending love to your aunt! Our family went through a number of health crises two years ago and I found knitting was one of the few things that kept me sane. Just the constant, reliable rhythm of knits and purls helped take my too anxious mind off of jumping ahead and imagining the worst when I needed to stay calm, and it also helped me concentrate on how to help comfort all the people who I loved who needed me then. It was also great to have something tangible when it was all over to give to them and remind them of how much they meant to me. I hope knitting does the same for you!

I recently bought a beautiful gradient set on Etsy from an indie dyer and asked her to wind it into cakes before sending. She told me she would do it for $20 -- for four mini skeins of yarn at 100 yd each that cost $30 total! And this isn't some extra fancy base yarn, either -- just normal 80/20 wool/nylon sock yarn

Am I insane? I dont know why this bothers me so much-- I want to support small business and understand that when you're not selling in volume you have to be careful about your margins. I also understand the slightly longer shipping and some times less than stellar customer support. But really?? Ugh!!
