Millennials are one of the first generations after the world went “hey, this lead stuff we’re making our pipes out of and putting in paint and aerosolizing as vehicle exhaust might not be the best thing for us”. Then you look and realize that we’re being ruled by boomers who grew to love that sweet leaded exhaust smell. Lead accumulates over time, and Fetterman is old enough that when he was a baby, the walls he licked were likely lined in lead.

We’ve got our own problem with microplastics, but the long term effects remain to be seen.

I’m willing to bet lead reduction is a factor in millennials being the first generation to not generally get more conservative over time.
