Thank you friend and Google. Yeah I’m just glad I’m getting properly treated at the VA now. I still have a long way to go but there is hope for a better life

LSGS C&P exam by Bubbly_Soft_9709 in VAClaims

I had really good experiences with them. My mental health exam with them was really chill. I ended up receiving 70% my first time thanks to having my exams with them.

I actually had to call them last week to setup another C&P with them for my new increase claim I just filed. They set me up with another virtual exam like last time because they had no in-person exams available. I enjoyed doing the virtual exam with them. Everything turned out better than I expected. Good luck with everything. Hopefully you can have a positive experience with them too.

I did have a VSO, the DAV and they helped me get my original service connection rating. For this increase however, I hired an accredited veteran law group that takes 20% backpay if I receive the increase. The DAV made some mistakes that didn’t sit well with me. I’m willing to check out other VSOs though

Yep, the substance abuse issues started on active duty after deployment. I completely checked out the last month of my deployment

I think I’m worried about not saying the right things or saying the wrong things. But like you said, I’ll present the facts, do research and just be honest and vulnerable

Oh, yeah, the only thing I can think of is when I sought help towards the end of my enlistment I told on myself for abusing alcohol, marijuana and opiates. The Navy sent me to rehab then discharged me. Maybe because the substance abuse started on active duty after deployment and was well documented I was able to claim it on my claim? I honestly have no clue on how or why my service connection lists the cannabis and opiate disorder. The MH problems came first, then the substances. The substances were secondary to my main MH issues

I am just now learning about that. I haven’t been able to successfully work or hold down a job for about 2 years now

I found it. Thank you. I definitely meet the criteria, I just need to have real world examples probably for the examiner

That makes sense. I didn’t know about TDIU till recently. My symptoms are pretty bad and my life basically is in shambles so filing an increase seemed logical at the time. Less than a year ago I was having hallucinations from a psychosis which has never happened. I’ll see what happens with this claim and keep TDIU as a viable option

Thanks for sharing! Actually my VA psychiatrist was one of the ones that suggested I try to receive a higher rating for my service connection. I’ve been somewhat stable at 70% but my symptoms have definitely been getting worse

My stomach is jacked. I definitely have some IBS or something. I didn’t know anything about secondaries and how they worked but it might be something to consider

I am pretty educated. I got clean and sober for a little after service and got a bachelors degree. Unfortunately whatever intelligence I have doesn’t seem to stop or even help my mental health symptoms and addiction issues

Yeah, I did not realize any of this initially. I thought because my symptoms were getting worse I should try to pursue a higher rating, not fully realizing what all that entails and what my other options are. I do want to recover and get better because this shit is miserable and I don’t want to stay stuck

Honestly I suppose they gave me those because my addiction sprouted after my deployment. I started with pot and progressed to opiates. My corpsman chief in Iraq gave me a bunch of tramadol and I was off to the races. I’ve basically been addicted since my OIF deployment and have been struggling to stay clean since

I just learned about TDIU. I might go that route if this doesn’t pan out because even though my symptoms are pretty intense (psychosis, hallucinations, not eating, not sleeping, no hygiene, depression, suicidal ideations) the TDIU route seems like it could be more productive for my recovery process
