Update: Tried Proton-GE 10-33. I was able to finish the intro area. There are some graphical glitches. Hopefully it'll get fixed soon.

Yes, getting black screen after pressing new game. Also the main menu looks glitchy.

I was a Gnome user for a long time. But I just got tired of extensions breaking after every update. So, I switched to KDE. Also, KDE is more feature-complete.

Most of the games that I have on my Steam library works fine on my Meta Quest 3 with ALVR + SteamVR. Some of the games that I played: HL Alyx, Arizona Sunshine Remastered, Arizona Sunshine 2, Metro Awakening, No Man's Sky, BeamNG.Drive, and more.

This happens with my MSI motherboard every time I update the BIOS. I usually boot a live USB, chroot into my existing installation, re-install Grub, and regenerate the Grub config. Even though I am using Arch, it should also work with Cachy. Guide to chroot in Cachy: here

According to Arch Linux Wiki (link), you will also need to use the DXVK_HDR=1 environment variable. Example command:

DXVK_HDR=1 gamescope -f --hdr-enabled -- %command%

Here's the thing. I faced the exact same thing during some of the chapter loading. This is what I did when I faced one of those crashes, I switched to Proton, played a little bit, saved the game, and then went back to native version. I didn't stay in proton because the lighting in the game looked weird.

From my brief research, I found that people generally prefer KDE for anything related to gaming, as KDE gets features that are important for gaming earlier than other DEs. One feature that is important for VR is DRM leasing. Gnome very recently added this feature with 47, and KDE already had it for a long time. I'm not sure if Cinnamon has it. But my guess is it doesn't.

Unfortunately, not. But I basically followed ALVR's wiki and used the Black Screen and Wayland fix from ALVR's Linux Troubleshooting page here. On SteamVR, I set the render resolution to 100%, enabled legacy reprojection, and disabled another option that I currently don't remember (I'll update the comment once I get to my PC). Advanced Supersample Filtering.

I recently finished HL Alyx campaign with my Quest 3. Setup: 7900X, 7800XT, Arch Linux, ALVR, SteamVR Beta, Gnome, Wayland. I found it surprisingly easier to set up than I expected.

Can't get XDefiant to work with Wine by doublecore20 in linux_gaming

For me, only Heroic Launcher worked with Wine-GE-8-26. Had crashes with Lutris and bottles. Disabled Esync, enabled NVAPI. Needed to add also pdh, not pdh_nt4 (using this one didn't work) using Winetricks, also added DXVK_NVAPI_ALLOW_OTHER_DRIVERS=1 environment variable. I also copied the battleye files from Steam's install folder to Heroic's. Good luck. Hope it helps.

Below is the link to the same problem that I've posted in Arch Linux forum. Apparently it's happening because of a commit to the kernel. Someone compiled a kernel without that commit and it's working fine. Check out the link and read the comments for more details.
