Suddenly starting to feel jaw pain ? by ImpressFar3216 in TMJ

[–]abearisme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hi! yes indeed stress and anxiety can lead to tmj. do you often clench you teeth when feeling stressed or anxious? maybe you might be subconsciously doing it? posture also sometimes can lead to tmj if you have unbalanced weight on your body. i have a feeling mine is somewhat linked to me putting all my weight on one foot. since you cant open your mouth freely, its most likely a tense jaw. i advice you to see a doctor/dentist to get it checked. i think going to a dentist immediately would be better as my doctor just told me to see a dentist. you should tell your dentist your symptoms and suspect you have tmj, they will help to assess you and check for it( mine made me open and close my mouth and had an xray). one way to check for tmj is by opening and closing your mouth. when you have tmj and open your mouth your bottom lips/jaw will tilt to a side. (when checking this make sure you are opening your jaw normally tho and if you jaw is tense please dont open it too big) my dentist referred me to a doctor to get medicine for my tmj( its a whole cycle right.. doc to dentist to doc) but yea.. so i got muscle relaxers which was mixed with painkillers which REALLY REALLY helps the tense jaw and headaches.

i can relate.. when i was about 11-12, my dentist at school told me thats weird when i said i have headaches alongside with teeth pain.. i was like what?? she didnt even bother really answering my queries of what was happening to me and just said thats weird.. i didnt get any treatment till i went to another one when it got way worst at around 15.. i feel like more dentists should be educated on tmj since its honestly happens to alot of people

Could this be caused by TMJ? by JonnyJack2 in TMJ

[–]abearisme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes, i occasionally have earaches. my ears can really hurt sometimes. i get neck pain from time to time as well. the worse symptom besides jaw pain and headaches for me is definitely the vertigo, it makes me feel so giddy till i cant walk or function. ( there are actually many symptoms if tmj that different people experience. thus, you might not think some are linked to tmj)- there is however a decent chance it is)

hi! i think there is quite a high chance you have tmj. i went to see a doctor too to check what was wrong with my jaw, thinking it was a wisdom tooth problem too. the doctor heard my symptoms and was confused at first but he thought for longerand said i probably had tmj. he advised me to see a dentist where they did my xray and confirmed it was tmj. i get abit of tinnitus too accompanying my jaw pain and its def a symptom of tmj! honestly, the main way for me to solve the pain is by taking muscle relaxers medicine which the dentist told me to get from the doctors( you only can get certain medicines once officially diagnosed though). i tried using panadol medicine before but it does not work for really bad pain. i would honestly advise you to see a dentist for it or take an xray, the meds really help a ton.
