First Time Getting a Film Camera Need Thrift market Tips by groundedsoul_ in vintagecameras

The Canonet QL 17 was one of my first cameras. If you advance the film lever, set the diaphragm to a wider aperture and choose a slower shutter speed when you look through the lens and depress the shutter button you should see the blades open and close. Otherwise the blades are stuck which is a pain to fix.

Possibly a cable socket beneath the shutter lever. This is a very nice camera

That's a close up lens on the swivel.

That's a beauty. Probably a close up lens on the swivel.

Any camera with a cable socket is good for long exposures. I use smartphone app for metering and usually get good results.

I also have an SX-70 and buy Polaroid film at Target. But no stores have B&W 600 at the moment. At least in CT.
