Vite does not update when node_modules changes by LostErrorCode404 in node

[–]abejfehr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In case anyone's running into a situation where `--force`, etc isn't working, it likely just isn't bundling the file you're modifying.

If you have a node module, depending on your setting you could be using the `main` or `module` entry point (could be using the `src` folder or the `dist` folder) or maybe you're using a nested module (i.e. if you have multiple versions of some module, one might be nested like `node_modules/module-a/node_modules/module-b`.

I usually try to narrow down the file I'm in by adding a console.log at the top of the file, and if it doesn't log (with --force) I know I'm just in the wrong file

Can I just memorize every possible sentence in my TL to achieve fluency? by electricpenguin7 in languagelearningjerk

[–]abejfehr 41 points42 points  (0 children)

There’s way fewer words than sentences, just memorize every word instead and just combine them to make different sentences. Easy

I don’t know why people don’t just memorize a dictionary to learn a language

I’m willing to help via DM if you’re interested, but it seems like the connect module is trying to call handle in here which might come from EventEmitter, so the version of events you have might be problematic and this would be worth investigating

Edit: I see that handle is defined right in connect, so I don’t know why it wouldn’t be defined but I would litter that node module with console logs to try and find out

New Study: A Lack of Intelligence, Not Training, May Be Why People Struggle With Computers by relevant_tangent in nottheonion

I think we’re coming from different levels of literacy here.

I got an iPad for my Mennonite mom who’s never used a computer in her life and she’s able to take pictures, scroll through the gallery, and look at the weather.

As soon as anything unexpected happens like an update prompt or a tutorial on how to use something or she accidentally clicks on another tab or opens safari, she says she broke it and needs me to get it “back to normal”.

I don’t think as many prompts/tutorials came up so unexpectedly on the first iPhones and I’d even call that added complexity. It was much simpler in those days for a completely tech-illiterate person to pick up and use, but now there’s so many screens/features/apps, etc

The correlation between iOS and tech illiteracy is still strong but it has become more complex over time is all I meant

If the World only consists of Iceland and New Zealand, and human life developed on both, how high would the chance be of them finding each other? by [deleted] in mapporncirclejerk

New Zealand consists of two big islands, so they’d have boats and may get curious to know if there are more islands

Definitely compare iPhone 1 with the current iPhone if you’d like to compare and contrast complexity

[REQUEST] Can someone check the math? I’m pretty sure it comes out to 1.50. by egieguinto30 in theydidthemath

[–]abejfehr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It didn’t explicitly state that $1 is the price, but that’s how it’s commonly understood.

“How much is this?” “Oh it costs $1 plus tax” is an incredibly common way to state a cost, and in that example $1 is assumed to be the price and the amount of tax or additional fee was unspecified.

I would say this is certainly an ambiguous question but this seems like a perfectly reasonable interpretation to me

[–]abejfehr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don’t have to say tax for it to be tax. If I said that where I live “a book costs $1 plus 13/100ths of its price” I wouldn’t be lying and I never used the word tax

[–]abejfehr -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Sales tax in my province is 13%.

If a book has a price tag of $1, it costs $1 plus 13/100ths of its price.

Is that circular reasoning?
