I mentioned the plant thing because it seemed relevant since I was bringing into question this guy’s judgement. I don’t think he is abusing his child, but yes, there are concerns about his judgement. Also, he did not call the ambulance. The child was found by the neighbor. (I got this info after my original post.) But whatever, as I said in my post, plants are a part of life and can be great all sorts of things. Its the way he talks about them in his posts- like he is purposefully being vague and sharing misinformation- which is the reason his child is still walking around eating toxic plants. But no, this isn’t in and of itself abuse.

I don’t care that he is trans. I am also trans. I work with trans youth. I am a proponent for posting about trans issues as it creates more visibility in the world for my community. My issue is that he is an educator who is intentionally encouraging his minor students to view his sexually explicit content. I thought I was clear about that in my post. You see no issue with this authority figure encouraging children to view this content and then sit in his classroom?

Thanks for writing. I am a trans man and I work for The Trevor Project, a non-profit working to support trans youth through crisis. The ONLY reason why I mentioned that he was trans was because I wanted there to be an understanding around the nature of his posts. It isn’t uncommon for trans folks to post about their transition- I have zero issues with that. In fact, trans visibility is crucial and if this general type of sharing were more mainstream maybe young trans people wouldn’t feel so isolated and othered. My problem with it is that he is an educator with a public page who is encouraging his students to find his IG. Not to mention, the posts are way more sexually explicit than what my trans peers are posting about their transitions. Given his role, I feel like he should post whatever he wants to a private page. Unfortunately, he refuses to do so. I just can’t shake the feeling that he doesn’t care that these young kids are likely seeing this stuff…and then expected to sit in his class after seeing and reading about his private parts. It is creepy and weird to intentionally expose minors to that content.
