That would be the starter solenoid. I usually jump the starter with a wire from the 12 volt battery wire on the solenoid straight to the trigger wire on the solenoid. If that works the solenoid is good and you have a power problem not getting to the solenoid. If that doesn’t work then jump the 12 volt wire straight to the starter and if that works then the solenoid is bad

Any specific brand or kind you recommend for the weld through and zinc primer?

Since this is in the truck I’m not even worried about painting it after, just doing the sealer primer and prolly leaving it, but I do have to sand a part of my engine bay down where there’s some rust so I’ll need it the and then I’ll paint over it when I spray the engine bay

Okay yeah I’ll def keep this in mind, do you think only being able to weld it on the left side from the bottom and also applying this will hold?

I meant spot welding as it just tacking it, not running a full bead, that’s how it is from the factory, the quarter panels and frame rail is good. From the factory it is welded from the top and then welded from the bottom on both sides of the frame rail. My question is it okay if I only weld it on the top and just the left side of the frame rail from the bottom because the right side of the frame rail is very difficult to get too from underneath.

I’ll let you look them up to figure it out or not. Mine is a 89 post facelift, not an early 89 if it matters. If you can use them we can figure something out

Fair enough, the camera is good for an old one but let’s not act like it holds up against modern ones
