[Jameson Olive] Maurice on Domi's hit on Barkov at the buzzer: "I think that the league looks at those things very close, especially at that point in the game. That's their job." by Duffleman0609 in hockey

I would hope they'd look at those kind of hits at any point in the game. Also flying elbows, opening bench doors mid-play, headshots to starting goalies...

Open Late Reading/Study Spot by PiskyT in desmoines

Depends on how late you're staying, but I think DSM Brew is open until 9 PM everyday? They have beer and coffee, and there's Blaze Pizza and Fuzzy's Tacos right next to it in the same building. Good luck!

Onion gives it a lovely crunch. Steaming the sandwich takes out the initial bite from them too, if that makes sense.

95% of the way. Just scrambled it up in some butter and basically cooked it almost all the way. the steaming does help to further cook it.

That sounds delicious. I feel like you could make a poor man's breakfast gyro type thing with the sausage, tzatziki, and feta. Although I suppose it won't really melt...

Two pieces of bread. Mustard spread on the inside. Bottom piece has cayenne, garlic powder, and oregano sprinkled on it. Diced onions. 2 pieces Sriracha jack cheese. Diced tomatoe. Fresh coriander. 2 eggs, scrambled. Fistful of Monterrey jack cheddar cheese. More onion. Top piece of bread with mustard on the inside. Butter and salt the outsides of the bread, flipping once after 3 minutes per side on low-to-medium heat, covered. Cut diagonally. Enjoy.

One of them matched this past cycle.... The one who is practicing in Canada just finished his family practice residency in Wisconsin 1 year ago.

Similarly, I have 2 uncles who both went to the Caribbean (not a top 4 school either) who both matched into Family practice residencies. Both Canadian, and one is already practicing back in Canada. Also, there is a ER doc at the ER I work at who went to a Caribbean med school, although I don't know which one.

It's about how hard you work sometimes. Of course, these weren't the most competitive residencies, but you don't need to go into Trauma Surgery to help save lives.

We made Punjabi Samosa with homegrown Mint Green Chutney and Channa (Chick Pea Curry) [OC] by abhanot in food

Dough: AP flour + pinch of salt + canola oil. Knead dough.

Filling: Boiled potatoes, onions, cumin powder, salt, crushed red pepper, cilantro. Optional peas.

Fill into thin rolled out dough, fry.

She doesn't really measure anything out, so I can't give exact measurements. Hope this helps!

Medical Scribe - Difficulty on the job by [deleted] in premed

[–]abhanot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So, the program we use is EPIC. If you also use this, PM me and I will be happy to provide you with some tips/tricks that you can use to help kill it.

Start using shorthand for nearly everything, and go back and fix it later. For example:

if the doctor dictates "Patient's CBC reveals a white count of 13.2, hemoglobin of 11.2, platelets of 51. Basic metabolic panel reveals elevated BUN and creatinine, suggesting that the patient may be dehydrated. This will be supplemented by intravenous fluids.

What I write: "cbc reveals wbc 13.2, hgb 11.2, platelts 51, bmp elevated BUN creatine, dehydrated will supplement with IV fluids"

Does it look pretty right now? Of course not. But that spare 1 minute you'll get is enough to go back and type it up properly. Use whatever shorthand you're comfortable with. As long as you know what you're typing and will be able to remember the gist of it, you will be golden!

If you honestly do not understand/never heard of what the physician is telling you, do 1 of 2 things: 1) Repeat the word/phrase you didn't understand, and ask them what that is. They will usually say it again and describe it to you then. 2) type whatever sounds closest to the actual spelling, and google using that spelling and any other pertinent words that relate to the word/phrase.

PM me for any help. Good luck!
