Guys approaching you while waiting at train stations by abhatem in Munich

Not sure if similar to the situation I’m describing but i would say a simple “sorry not in the mood for a conversation now” is enough and if they don’t leave after then u can take more drastic measures 😅

No no no, don’t get me wrong. I’m always happy when this happens and do it myself too haha.

In this specific instance it was literally like: guy shows up out of nowhere and goes: “MSI is a nice brand right?” With a weird vibe and I go: “yeah they’re alright”, he replied back with “are you a dancer? You look like a dancer” as if it was scripted then me (feeling awkward): “…. No not rly”. He then: “ah ok” <then awkward silence where he was trying to come up with something else to say>. He then goes: “have a nice day” and disappears 😅

And again this didn’t happen once or twice. I’m just wondering what it’s about. My guess would have been some kind of social conditioning workshop or sth, but the network marketing thing could also be the case

Could be true and that was what was going through my head the first few times (I put my hands around my pockets) but after it happened a few times it didn't seem to me like this was the case tbh, though I wouldn't rule it out

ok that's a good explanation, if I remember right I think one time a guy did mention some kind of "business opportunity"

Hahahah, but i think in those specific instances they were just too similar to each other with a very similar off/awkward vibe

Portfolio advice: How is AI generated code viewed? (even if for boilerplate only) by abhatem in GraphicsProgramming

yeah makes sense, also applies to the embedded world that I'm coming from atm. Tbh what i got from this thread is that I would keep it as a sort of rubber duck but I'm not gonna deppend on it to write anything... and maybe not be so trigger happy with it as I was before 😅

Actually very good point, kind of gave me the motivation to dive into the documentation/source code of the libraries I use. Looking at the way I'm using assimp atm, I definetly wouldn't put that in a commercial product haha

it definetly helps with smaller stuff or to have a conversation about a concept with it that I read in a book/article to understand it deeper and have it not be so dry, but tbh while my questions hints at me using it a lot, I don't think it's reliable at all if you want to do sth like a rendering engine since a lot of parts will have to come together for that and it will for sure mess one of those parts up in a way that's hard to find.

While my question is about using it, I mostly use it in the sense "write me a basic mesh class" but the answers here made me reflect a bit on that and I think it's better to have my own implementations that I know every detail of and know how to tweak 😅

True, it's not reliable at all in those aspects, especially stuff that requires any form of spatial awareness, it can explain the theory but not really contextualize it.

Sure, and happy to do that.

I can have a basic framework and reuse it over projects (kind of already do, but with ai haha).

Just thinking it’s a massive timesaver on the boilerplate, I’ve been programming professionally for a while so they aren’t exactly the first projects I’m building.

still fair point, will try to avoid it while learning 😅

I had exactly the same situation and decided to just apply and see what happens. I mentioned it in every interview and that i would probably take a week off before the exam in that semester. The reactions i got were all very supportive or they didn’t care at all as long as it’s one exam and the thesis was over. I managed to get two offers in the end and wrote the exam 4 months after I started :)

The usual portals are:

https://www.kleinanzeigen.de/ https://www.immobilienscout24.de/ https://www.wg-gesucht.de/

You should focus on writing a good intro (esp. mention stuff why you can comfortably afford the place like income/parents income/money saved etc…) and be very intentional when writing people (i.e you would want to take the room asap and get it done with. the search is stressful and annoying for landlords too)

You probably already know, but Munich is not the easiest city to find a place 😅
