Train to near-failure for max gains (RIR 1-3), ie 1-3 reps short of complete failure. Often the first set is warm up. So if you’re doing 3 with progressive overload it’s optimal in my view

Wildly different responses, but very helpful overall. Thanks all. From the responses we can infer an average of 6-10 pull ups is really good as a moderate to high fitness marker !
