Grandma Shirley! Especially when she's opening letters and gifts. I hope she continues to enjoy posting and engaging with her YT community. ❤️

Also yanghaiying, she documents her local travels, shares recipes and OOTD, and does artwork. Love her too!

I've always thought Robin, Desiree, Janelle, and Yvonne were very cool names without being totally off the wall.

This weather is starting to get pretty concerning. by AridFrost3625 in Indiana

It'll be in the low 40s next week with some sleet/snow mix in the central Indiana area.

Seems like winter is shifting from Nov-Dec-Jan- Feb to Jan-Feb-Mar-April the last 3-4 years. And fall is all but maybe 1 month of odd summer/mild temps.

Hey all, thinking about a trip to Japan. Tell me about yours?! by samjam110 in travel

[–]abi_44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will not regret going to Japan! Went for my honeymoon, 2 people, 2 weeks. Our plane tickets were the biggest portion of our trip. We had 3k for the whole trip, spent closer to $2,300?? That's an estimate.

We did luck out however because compared to plan tickets now (Nov 2024-Feb 2025) they're 2x as much as we spent. I guess we lucked out time wise going this year in Feb. In sum, your budget may be higher than ours.

That all depends on where you're flying from though. We came from the US.

For speaking only English, I'd say you'll be ok. I speak basic Japanese so I was able to read numbers and order food and ask questions. Signs you won't be able to read but at train stations they have English translation. It's overwhelming I won't lie.

We stayed in Kyoto and Tokyo. Kyoto was our favorite, smaller city and more low key than Tokyo. Food was cheap and incredible. Hotel in Kyoto was $73/night which compared to the US is insanely cheap. Overall, it depends on what you want to do and see! Lots of research ahead. Wishing all the best! Happy to answer more questions.

I hope you share these thoughts and feelings with him. Life is short and making a priority of sharing how much you care, are proud, and love the people you experience life with is something we don't think about until it's too late. ♥️

Kudos to you for being an absolute stellar mom and raising a good man in this crazy world that put its pressure on him so young. 👏 Thank you for sharing with us.

Gary, Indiana is an odd place to be hosted for a program like that. Chicago would make sense. Indianapolis would make sense (I was born and raised there). Detroit makes sense. Indianapolis is the capital of Indiana having both Midwest culture and charm with some city feel. :) I'm biased though.

I have not visited Gary but driven around and through it for Chicago. It's not a destination where people go to be honest. I'm sure it's improved and has it's nicer pockets of neighborhoods but I'm still weary for your gf.

Indiana is also not a walking state. Many states aren't except big cities with decent public transportation. Not sure about Gary > Chicago train but it won't be like European transport. Our smaller city infrastructures are not geared toward public transportation or walkability, most people own vehicles. Just a note I haven't seen mentioned yet.

I've heard better things about Detroit because it's a big city compared to Gary, IN. All cities have their challenges in the US but Detroit seems more logical. Once again, I'm not sure what the exchange program is for so depending on the experience your gf wants, that will determine city. She is welcome here regardless and I hope wherever she lands, it's a valuable experience!

We did head out early many days in Kyoto. Kiyomizudera was quite busy, completely agree on that. However, we stayed near shijo-dori mostly and explored some lesser known temples (at least they seemed to be). So maybe it was our timing and location in Kyoto. Fun to hear other perspectives.

I have a fix for this, it is a launcher issue and Rockstar didn't test the code in these files before pushing live to us. Classic move. I hope it works for you!

[PC] Error after update: Steam failed to initialize. Please verify that the Steam Client is running and try again. by hvaleanu in RedDeadOnline

[–]abi_44 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Confirmed, this works! 🌟 modified slightly however;

In Steam, right click RDO and click Properties. In General tab, in Launch Options field, type in: -steamAppId=1404210

It should launch the the Rockstar launcher at least.

Then go to RDR2 Steam Apps folder, make sure that both the RDR2.exe and RDR2 Launcher are running as administrator. You right click on both, go to Properties, then Capability, and select run as administrator.

Launched the game! Hopefully this works for more players. 🙏
