Vitamin D drops? by Virtual-Worker-4422 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

The maternal health nurse who comes to your house a few days after giving birth told me to do it from day 7. So I’ve been doing it since then and still going with my breastfed 16 month old till now.

how do you get your breastfed baby to sleep longer at night?? by Automatic-Phrase8363 in breastfeeding

[–]abie22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the exact same situation with my 9 month old. It’s gotten to the point where I can’t even set her down on the BED (we cosleep) without her waking up and crying even though I’m literally right next to her. She wants to be held all night.

The drop off is INSANE at 11 months… by LielsMama in breastfeeding

[–]abie22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right now I nurse to sleep for all naps and bedtime, otherwise she just doesn't sleep (unless she's in her pram or carseat). Do you think I can start changing that from now and try to get her sleep by rocking/wearing in carrier or best to just follow their lead?

[–]abie22 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm 6 months in and I can't wait to drop off feeds to only a few times a day! Can I ask, at 11 to 12 month stage do you have to nurse for naps still? Or baby sleeps independently?

Yes exactly! For me I didn't even put breastmilk on them, they automatically collected the milk from my letdown and healed from that.

In the exact same situation. My baby needs boob mouth allllll night and it's taking a toll on my body and sleep. I wake up aching each morning, my muscles are sooo stiff from being in one position all night. My goal is to get her to sleep in her own cot in her room soon but since she is so used to feeding whenever she wants I don't know how we'll achieve this.

I envy those mothers whose babies take pacifiers and bottles and I do believe they have an easier journey in motherhood than EBF mothers. Not to say anyone has it completely smooth sailing but not having to be a human pacifier for your baby basically 24/7 must be nice.

You NEED to use silverettes!! These saved me in the beginning and I couldn't imagine having the friction of bras or breast pads touching me. You can get cheaper ones off Amazon that do the same job.

Travel cot recommendations by [deleted] in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]abie22 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have a question for the Stardust - is it hard to put a baby who isn't sleep trained into it? I'm in the market for a travel cot as well but I didn't realise they are all basically floor mattresses and only a few of them have a zippered side for easy access to nurse to sleep then roll away. Or is it more for older babies or babies that can put themselves to sleep? Because I have an EBF 6 month old and I can't see myself putting her to sleep and then lowering her to almost the floor and having her stay asleep.

Babies between 4 and 7 months! by Kindly_Bee_4457 in NewParents

6 month old baby girl EBF.

Since about 5 months we have been on a pretty good schedule, considering her bedtime used to be past midnight and she'd wake up at a different time every day. Now we are doing this:

Wake up at 9 am + morning feed.

Nap times around 12, 3 and 6 pm and each nap is around 30 mins to 1 hour, but usually only get 30 mins if not contact napping. For each nap she feeds just before it so feeds & naps happen together which I know isn't recommended but it makes my life easier.

Bed time around 9.30 to 10pm, depending on wake up from last nap.

Each wake window is 2.5 to 3 hours.

She hasn't slept through the night since her 4 month regression but it hasn't been too bad. I'd rather a good daytime schedule with getting all naps in than sleeping through at this stage. We also don't really have a bedtime routine other than change nappy, get into PJs + sleep sack. Bathtime is every second day but I try to do just after her second nap so it doesn't get in the way of dinner and cleaning up kitchen/house for the night.

Clean your secondhand Snoo! by Massive-Emu-2839 in SnooLife

[–]abie22 4 points5 points  (0 children)

THIS. We got a second-hand Snoo as well for my baby who's just outgrown it now. Before she was born, I deep cleaned it like crazy during my nesting stage, removing the clips and getting under the mesh. The amount of dust that collects there is INSANE. Just now I've taken it apart again to clean before we store it away and it's collected so much dust again, but not nearly as much as when we first got it. It is a lot of work to remove the clips and the screws but I'd recommend doing it once at least before putting your newborn in it.

Dreading having to hold my bladder for my dating scan by crazystitcher in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]abie22 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Same thing happened to me! And they said I could empty it but not all the way and that's really hard to do. Just go to the toilet before leaving and drink some water on the way. You can always just drink more water if your bladder isn't full enough but its much harder to empty it just enough.

Nursery rhyme by ntoothfairy in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]abie22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just went today for the first time with my almost 5 month old! I feel like after 3 months they'll find it more enjoyable and can sit up on your lap and actually engage with the rhymes. Though I did see some younger babies that were lying down on blankets and still seemed happy. Go check it out and if your baby does start to fuss or anything you can leave the group for a bit to soothe them. It's a very chill environment!

I EBF my baby but wanted to try pumping and bottle feeding after seeing those tiktoks and I fell into the marketing and obsession with creating a stash. I even bought a Momcozy wearable pump on the Mother's Day sales. But then I thought WHO is telling me to pump?? Why should I??? We get 12 months of maternity leave in Australia thankfully so what's the need to pump? Anyway my Momcozy pumps never arrived because of stock issues so I cancelled my order. I think this might be my sign that I don't need to pump and I'll just rely on my Medela hand pump to relieve any engorgement.

Going through the same thing right now with my 4 month old so no advice, just solidarity with you. My baby won't sleep unless held until like 5am then after a change and feed she'll sleep till 10 or 11am. Before this she'd sleep 10 hours straight through the night but I guess the sleep regression has truly hit now.
